We did it last year. The best thing we did was book an independent tour in St. Petersburg withe Alla Tours for the 2 days. We booked a private van for 6 of us and it was great! Much cheaper than Viking's and we had a very small group. If you don't have friends going with you they will put you on a small van with other people (maybe 16 maximum? I don't remember) We did not do any of Viking's optional tours, we just did the included. We stayed in Warnemunde and did not take the train to Berlin. Nice walking tour of Rostock. We did not go to Paris, either, we got a taxi and a guide at the ship to LeHavre. It was a good day and reasonable. The Stockholm included tour was one that we wish we had skipped. Stuck on a bus with no way to get off. Better to walk around on your own. We took a ferry to the Vasa museum and it was great.
