El Cheapo Cruises Thread

Recommended Posts

The cruise lines have shot themselves in the foot in some ways with the amazing amount of overcapacity. Its all very well having 5,000 pax on a ship but they have to get them, and fill those ships ...EVERY NIGHT.

In the meantime ...deals abound.

Interesting interview with new Carnival President, Sture Myrmell - News -

"Where will pricing go in 2018?

Pricing will hopefully move in an upward direction.

The market is maturing and more people are realising the value of cruising but there needs to be a balance between supply and demand.

If we can grow demand, and I believe we can, we can continue growing the industry profitably. The business needs to be profitable to keep going."

I don't believe they can continue to grow demand, especially with the size of our population and the number of passengers required to fill mega ships.

Thanks us as Mic said Mrs Gut and work. Already committed 6 or 7 weeks LSL for 2019.

I think this year might have to be a cruise free year.

Cruise free year ? That is a serious illness Mr Gut. But at least you have next year to look forward to...Aloha !!!

Thanks Suzbluz, very helpful.

Are you on Facebook? I see a lot of these one day bargains because I liked an online TA on facebook. The specials come out every couple of days and there are some amazing bargains. You just have to find the right site to cruise first.

But then... sayanora.

They've been increasing the prices offshore so if they can achieve better returns elsewhere than here, they'll be gone in a shot.

BTW, I like the doublespeak above. They are profitable, and not in risk of not being profitable, so it's not a justification to "keep going." But said that way to justify price rises, or for use if they depart.

I guess that demonstrates that there is no demand for Geelong and Burnie for ports of call.

It's back.

Thank you for posting this great bargain. As a solo cruiser these days I couldn't resist 10 nights for $804.20 for a single inside cabin from that great OZ cruise website. I was even able to use a Cruisenext $250 certificate I purchased on my last NCL cuise in October. Great work spotting those bargains and spreading the word. Keep it up.(y)

Glad you could make use of it. I'm a solo cruiser too, so I keep an eye out for these deals.:halo:

Let us know what it was like when you get back.

It hurt me to pass this one up, but I had already booked onto the Pacific Dawn for this Saturday and scientists have yet to work out how someone can be on two cruises at once.

For everybody else out there, the deal is still on.

This one is a good price considering it’s school holidays. Shame that it’s not a round trip but Carnival is giving $200 OBC/cabin.
