riffatsea Posted December 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Porto Vista Hotel- Haven't stayed there but they have a nice lounge/restaurant for happy hour apps/drinks and a shuttle to the port for $5 per person. I don't know availability for the other hotels closer to the port like the Holiday Inn San Diego ON the Bay or the Best Western Bayside. You have left it kind of late to book a room for this week. Putterdude Posted December 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2011 We are in at the BW Bayside for 12/23. We will be driving over from AZ and needed a Stay, Park and Cruise package. We booked just a couple of weeks ago and it may be still available. They do offer a shuttle to the cruise terminal.
KimKcruiser Posted December 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Stayed 2 times before and after our shuttle was free from airport and back from hotel and back to zoo from hotel and back from pier Breakfast was perfect every morning Little italy,we were in it great food started 1 minute from hotel door easy access to San Diego trolley system walked to boardwalk easily, actually all the way to convention center would say in an instant stay at the Porto Vista book directly for the free breakfast, does not come free with third party booking I believe Staff was friendly and helpful Rooms were clean and quiet staying to close to pier at other hotels could be noisy with trolleys and amtrack traffic nearby (crossing signals would drive me nuts hearing those every how many minutes)just my thought
Putterdude Posted December 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2011 We are at the BW-Bayside right now. The lobby and hallways are a bit dated but the rooms are large and clean. The staff is very friendly. It about a long 4 block walk from San Diego's cruise terminal which makes it very easy for someone with few bags to walk. Adjacent to Little Italy, there appears to be a mid-priced Italian restaurant kitty corner from the hotel which we will try tonight. Free breakfast, internet and shuttle to and from the pier. I booked it by calling the hotel direct and saved some money over the internet price.
