Hi we have just booked a 3 night cruise with p o auroro in May,

Looking for parking last time we used Holiday inn park stay and cruise but that was for 7 nights comes out expensive only using 3 nights.

Who do you use ?

Hubby likes to keep hold of his keys.

Any recommendations please.

If he insists on keeping hold of his keys, that will limit his options considerably. The Park on your drive’ option could be a possibility? I have not used it, but a few on here rate it highly.

We use CPS now. We have also used them for a several long cruises and a 2 nighter, but even with the 2 nighter I think we left our keys with CPS.

We always use CPS and find them very good but not cheap. They take your keys because they drive the car the short distance from outside the terminal building to the secure car park. If you return to a different terminal from the one you leave, they move your car so you can pick it up more easily.

We use Penguin Parking , for people who do not want their car moving or driving by anyone else

they offer a self park option which would cost you £15 .

Even then you have to leave your car key with them for insurance reasons.

I have never used this service as they only move the cars around their yard and having said that they do not move them from where you parked unless they have to. So chances are your car could still be in it's place that you left it anyway.

Going back to insurance purposes, reasons most companies want your keys is so they can keep your car safe.

Look at the Liverpool car park that went up in flames ?

( bet a few owners are wishing they had the option to have left their keys at this car park )

Cars are parked very close together and if one car had a fault and caught fire ,lets say two cars

away from yours , would your hubby be glad to have his car removed away ?

Who ever you park with just make sure they are a secure reliable company and leaving a car key should not then be a problem .

Friends use - Undercover, free taxi transfer, and you keep the keys

Have just returned home from cruise with P&O, used Penguin Parking at Southampton (taking advantage of their self parking option).

I found the service to be excellent, speedy transfer after parking car and speedy collection from terminal on return both with minimal waiting time. The free bottle of water wsa a nice touch too.

When booking P&O offered a choice between on board credit and free parking (with CPS), for rme it worked out better value to take the OBC, the fee paid to Penguin was less than the credit so I was quids in ... spent the money in the spa & casino instead!!

We have just booked with Looking4Parking. We have not used them before but they seem to fit our needs' date=' including, I think, self parking. They are next to P&O cruise terminal.[/quote']

that sounds like your booked in to triangle carpark. It's right next to the terminal, you can walk to the ship from it. We parked there last year and yes it's self park and yes you take your keys. My hubby is the same refuses to hand his keys to anyone.

Before that we have used Penguin ( they were called ACP then) but although it was using there self park they did require us to leave the keys with them Hubby was not to happy to be told this at the last minute.

Back to triangle this year we are sailing with Princess and have 2 different terminals for embark and disembark. we return to the terminal next to the car park, so have booked the option with taxi's.

If it works out ok we may well book that carpark again.

If you are looking to stay overnight before the cruise, Elizabeth House Hotel in Southampton has always been popular. They charge £4.75 a night for cruise parking. Not sure about the key situation - you would need to e-mail them or give them a call. Their website is easily found if you google them.

Hi we used CPS for a mini cruise and they left the car where we parked it and we took our keys with us .. a different procedure to when we have used them for longer cruises.. hope this helps

CPS only use this self park procedure for 2 night cruises. For 3 night cruises and above it is valet parking, we're on a 3 night Princess cruise next month using CPS.

We have stayed at Elizabeth house and kept the keys, the owner/manager usually asks you to park in a particular spot to make best use of the carpark. If you are leaving your keys with a company please check that your insurance is not voided as this has been seen as a get out clause by insurers, especially when some of the less reliable parking companies have been known to park cars roadside and they have been damaged. It can be the same if you pay to park on someone's local drive.
