Magens Bay Beach

Magens Bay Beach, located on the Northside of St. Thomas is a mile of white, pebble free sand and calm waters. Magens Bay is the most popular and picturesque beach in USVI. The peninsulas protect the shore from erosion and big waves, making it an ideal spot for swimmers. This beach does have an entry fee ($4), which is used to maintain the facilities. This beach is particularly beautiful because of the rolling mountains that roll right down to the beach. It's perfect for snorkeling, but does get crowded as it is a popular stop for cruise ships.

When we were there in May lounge chairs were available for rent ($8 each) but not umbrellas. And make sure you don't forget your sunscreen like we did--$16.50 for a bottle at the concession stand.

Would someone know the length of time to get to Magens Bay from the cruise port and cost for transportation? Thank you

We were there last November (and will be this November). There were umbrellas and chairs to rent, but they only have so many and it's first come first served. We were able to get both, but it was just by luck. Someone was returning theirs just as we were told they were out. You do have to give a deposit, which is returned, minus the rental cost. They were brand new.

What are the options for getting to Megan’s? Bus, taxi and tour prices?

We were just at Megan’s Bay on Tuesday. We paid $16 ( for two) plus tip which was on an open air taxi bus from Best Taxi Company. We paid $8.00 ( plus $5.00 deposit) in cash only, for a lounge chair. They had no umbrellas to rent, we asked. Shade is best sitting close by the bar/restaurant. Plenty of taxi’s available when ever you decide to return. We were in a closed minivan that had little to no air conditioning returning to the ship. Not a wise choice.
