Safety in Bahamas

1KDS

Recommended Posts

A friend recently told me that it is not safe to walk around the straw market and the areas around the straw market. I have been to the Bahamas twice and never had any problems and felt very safe. Can anyone tell me if they have heard of any safety issues..... thanks

When we were there in October of 2009, we got off the boat and immediately felt uncomfortable. We walked around for about 30 minutes and then felt Naussa didn't have much to offer and went back to the boat. Had a blast on the boat!

I had posted questions about Naussa on a separate site and one poster put it perfectly. They said it is like putting a 2 mile urban city in the middle of a third world country.

I have heard of people being robbed and of course the robbery of the Disney guests on the Segways.

So, just be careful - just as you would if you were in a "bad" part of town in our big cities.
