Never cruised disney question

higher then Carnival and RCCL? Disney is usually higher then those two lines. They are a niche product for sure.

To some they are worth the price you pay ... I have always had amazing service, Broadway caliber shows, great food, kids clubs that are second to none, more choices in family activities to do on board then many other lines. I think you also see less of a party crowd - no hairy chest contests and I have never seen anything suggestive/raunchy etc.

I always thought without asking that Disney would be for families and kids. I also notice that they allow you to take spirits on board and soda is free.

Yes, you may take onboard whatever (and as much as you would like) of alcohol, sodas, water. DCL does request that you place any drinks brought onboard in your carry on luggage, not checked.

Additionally, sodas are included in the cruise price at meals and at the drink station on the pool deck. Sodas that you get from the beverage servers around the pool area and in the bars/lounges, as well as from room service do have a charge.

:)

One thing you might want to do is bring along some good sized insulated soda mugs. The cups at the drink station are kinda small.

No one does what Disney does for kids and families. Its that 'warm fuzzy' feeling you get when you are in the parks that carries over to the cruise.

I really really like Royal; Carnival is Fine. But I LOVE the Disney Cruise!

There is so much to do on DCL that you don't have on other cruise lines, mostly lots of family activities. Entertainment really isn't more than PG13 so nothing not suitable for kids.

As my kids have gotten older, itineraries are more important than kid activities so we do go on other cruise lines. But I'm still on DCL a couple of times a year.

We've only done 2 DCLs and 2 non-DCLs and what we think differentiate DCL from others is the "magical experience" and the pride of cruising on her. This is the best I can describe it. This could be the intangible that is built in to their higher price.

There is not a casino on board.

The rooms are a little larger, when I have compared same level with other lines.

Like others have said - they definitely have that Disney service/feel that the parks have.

They do have plenty of adult spaces. Our last cruise, they had a show that was marked for adults only - early show was for families by the same person. I think it was a ventriliquist act.

Characters ( snow white, buzz, princess etc. . ), theme'd shows, mouse themed everything so it comes with the Mouse premium too. Nothing to do with where it sails from, they always get their premium as demand is there.

We have only cruised Carnival and RCCL. Now that Disney is coming to Galveston, I am curious to why the rates seem quite a bit higher?

I have also been following this topic on the Dis boards and people are complaining that the Galveston rates are quite a bit higher than even Disney usually charges. No one is sure of the reasoning on this either. Most are saying that the Fantasy summer rates are better and even those are quite high and steadily climbing.

They charge more because they can.

There's large demand for Disney cruises in general and being new to Galveston, there's a built-up local demand. If the ship doesn't fill, then you'll see the stateroom prices flatten out rather than rise toward the sail dates.
