Papa New Guinea, Box Jellyfish?

Hi we are going to Papa New Guinea at the end of November. I have just read that they have Box jellyfish there. The season runs from October. Can anyone tell me if this can be a big problem while snorkelling. Thanks

I went in February of last year and didn't see any evidence of them. No warnings from P&O staff or from locals.

Snorkeled and swum at Kitava, Kiriwina and Conflict Islands. No issues. Did wear a rash shirt, but that was more for sun protection, not because of stingers.

The usual rules apply. Don't swim in muddy water and don't swim near mangroves or river outlets.

Just because you don't hear about them doesn't mean they aren't there. They are common in SE Asia and Australia, it's a pretty fair bet they live in the tropical waters in between.
