EZAir in LA and hotels and shuttles

We have booked EZAir to LA for our Mexican Riviera criuse. We are fly in the day before and wondering if we could have some input about transfers and hotel to use. We would like to stay near the pier and have a hotel that offers shuttle. Also would like input about gettting from the airport to the hotel.

You might want to check the part of the boards that deals with embarkation ports. That said, your best bet from LAX to the hotel will be Uber. THere is a designated Uber pick up area at LAX (or at least there was in August, 2018). We just asked the information person where it was. Our wait was about 2 minutes--he got to us before the app said he would!

There are lots of hotels near the cruise port that have shuttles. I'd suggest that you use a web site like hotels.com to narrow down your options based on dates and costs. We have no way to know what sort of hotel you like or which ones are full for your dates. The filters on the web site will allow you to specify any particular features you want, distance to port, etc. Then read the fine print to see which of the ones you like offer complimentary shuttles to cruise terminal. And finally, whether you get a name here or on line, call the hotel to be sure that they STILL offer that service.

Check out the west coast ports board.

We use Uber/Lyft to San Pedro from LAX.

Taxi from LAX to San Pedro runs about $60.

There are a couple of decent hotels in San Pedro and many more in Long Beach which is a 15 minute cab ride from the port.

I don't agree that the BEST bet is Uber. For us the best bet is a town car.:) People have different preferences.

We usually stay at Crowne Plaza. Many others stay at Doubletree. Both have shuttles to the port.

Super Shuttle (book online) is inexpensive from the Airport to the hotel. Uber is also inexpensive and can be less of a wait.

There are 3 hotels in San Pedro where most stay, Crown Plaza near the waterfront business area, Doubletree about a mile south of the area, and a less expensive option the Sunrise which is right on S. Harbor Blvd. All have free shuttles to the pier.

We have always used one of the group shuttles, Super Shuttle or Prime Time. They are around $20/pp.

We are also using EZ Air in January to fly in a day early for a Princess cruise to the Mexican Riviera. It seemed like the options for things to do around San Pedro are fairly limited so we booked at the Queen Mary hotel in Long Beach instead. It's still close to San Pedro but there seems to be a lot more to do in Long Beach for a day pre-cruise if one does not want to do the typical Beverly Hills/Santa Monica/Hollywood tourist stuff. Long Beach has a free tourist bus called the Passport that goes from the Queen Mary to the downtown area and many tourist sights.

We did this several years ago. It is a very interesting experience and lets you compare an Ocean Liner from several decades ago to the Princess ship you will soon be on.
