club bar on the Encore

The “powers that be” rectified the unpopular Encore Club bar arrangement pretty quickly. I guess it was a relatively cheap and easy fix. They seem to be digging their heels in rather deeper with the even more unpopular Retreat which will cost a lot more to rectify.

They certainly fixed the Club Bar on Ovation. As to The Retreat there a probably structural and access issues with reconfiguring this space eg having to have “house” and other staff cover this area would be an issue.

Turn it into a Brig for Dress Code violators.

But not at all. You clear the deck of the Tihany exclusive revenue cr*p that's up there; that costs a few man hours work; and return the space to the Seabourn one-class concept and you get a bunch of happier passengers who spend more or come back faster and it costs you negative money to remove the stupid thing, in the balance.

Seabourn put in, at expense, a laundry they should have built in the first place, costing them notionally ship laundry charges; the Retreat is nothing different, the little they will lose in revenue is overwhelmed by the first 10 bookings from people who appreciate the one-class, full-service, customer-centered concept they're supposed to be about.

Does anybody know if they have changed the Club bar to include a barman or if they are planning to do it sometime in the future ?

We had a wonderful bartender, Patrick, at the club bar on the Encore in May. He did mention that they were planning on reconfiguring this particular bar.

They tried a Retreat like concept on the 'O' class ships at the beginning and it didn't work there either. They converted that space into Penthouse Spa suites which bring in real dollars.

Maybe they will convert the Retreat space into more cabins/suites at the next dry dock? Certainly those in charge would have looked into the financial viability of such a plan. I personally doubt they will ever cede this space back to passengers for 'free.'
