We will be visiting Mykonos and Rhodes in September. We have excursions planned in all our ports, except Mykonos and Rhodes, and thought these would be good ports to have some down time at the beach and then wander around town. We're looking for beach suggestions and any other suggestions you all might have. This is our first time visiting these ports and open to all idea. TIA

If you are looking for a beach within walking distance of the port in Rhodes I recommend Elli beach. If you're willing to take a short taxi ride or city bus, Kallithea Springs is one of the most beautiful beaches not too far from port.

We just returned from our Greek Island cruise yesterday. Mykonos was our down beach day, and ended up being my whole families favorite day. We got a day pass for Saint John's Resort. It was at the cost of 80 euros per person, which was well worth the experience. It included transfers from the ship, a fantastic breakfast buffet, a gorgeous infinity pool, loungers, a beach experience, a three course lunch and transfers back to the ship. It was the best relaxing day with the most gorgeous views of the island. They limit the number of day passes to keep the experience relaxing and not crowded. We were there during their most busy time, resort filled, and yet still very private.

When we were in Mykonos we took a cab to Super Paradise Beach. We got there early and had our pick of Lounge chairs. We had one right by the beautiful water. There is food (reasonable) drinks and rest rooms there. We spent a few hours there and headed back to town to explore and have lunch. Beautiful day. The wind was really blowing in town but just a perfect beach day at Super Paradise.

We did a tour with Nicholas Rhodes in Rhodes. We planned just what we wanted to see and do (with suggestions from Nicholas before we left). We knew it would be hot in July so we wanted beach time. Once we saw a lot of the island we stopped at Argo for an amazing lunch. While there, we had lounge chairs on a beach all to ourselves. It was beautiful and relaxing. Loved Argo for Lunch and the gorgeous beach that it was on.

Thank you! There are 6 of us and this sounds like what we are looking for! How early did you get to the beach and was it easy to get a taxi? I've read that they are not readily available. Did you arrange a time for the driver to come back to pick you up and do you remember the cost for the taxi?

We were on Celebrity so we docked and a free bus took us to town. We climbed the hill to the road and there was a taxi stand. We waited about 10 minutes but someone that was staying in Mykonos let us go in front of him. I think it was around 9:30 when we got to Super Paradise. For 2 lounges, umbrella and towels first row waterfront was 40E (July 2017). It got cheaper as you went back. When we wanted to leave, a taxi was dropping some people off so we just went back with him but you could probably ask at the bar to call you a cab. We still had to call the company (we called from the drivers phone) because I don't think they can randomly pick people up. You might have more trouble with 6 people. We only had 4 so we all fit in the car. There was also ferrys stopping there throughout the day that I think just came from town.
