U.s. National park pass price going up

The current National Park Lifetime Pass is a bargain at only $10; however, sometime next year the pass will go up to $80.

For anyone 62 or over, I suggest getting it sooner than later. We have used it even when cruising. We have used it in the Virgin Islands for St. John's and for our trip up Haleakala on Maui.

Originally heard that the magic date was going to be 8/21 from a NPS employee in Seattle, looks like it may be 8/28, at least for online applications. But you can get a senior pass for $10 from any National Park (whether they charge for admission or not,) or pay the processing fee in addition to the $10 fee to get it online. The price after that, will be $85, not $80 as indicated in the original post.

Sequim88, just used it the other day going to Hurricane Ridge.

This link gets you the pass for $20 ($10 plus $10 service fee) https://yourpassnow.com/ParkPass/park/senior/SeniorPassInfoCollect

the link can be found on the page https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass

I ordered mine today as the nearest park I can buy one in is a 90 minute drive each way.

If you buy through the park service the price goes up if they ship after 8-28-2017

You can also purchase at these locations

I ordered mine in April. I had to mail also since I'm not near a park. Happy day when I received it. Actually $80/$85 for life is not a bad deal.

I've only used mine 3 times- Alaska, Hawaii & San Juan.

The people living out west really have an advantage to use it.:)

Here in Florida, not so much. :(

I used my annual pass at Everglades one year. The pass is the best excuse to "See the USA" i have traveled to all 50 states and collected passport stamps from serveral parks. Here is a page for the parks in Florida: https://www.nps.gov/state/fl/index.htm. Happy travels!

Thanks but I've seen enough hurricane cleanup for this year in Florida.

I'll stick with cruises- to islands that haven been hit with disaster.
