Can't find 2 rooms on July 7 in New Orleans

We just booked a cruise on Carnival Dream for July 8, 2017. We need 2 rooms for a total of 5 adults. We have looked at several hotels in New Orleans , Slidell, and Gretna. So far no luck, everything is booked up. We would be willing to stay up to an hour away from the port. Any suggestions for a city to find a hotel in or a hotel that may have rooms? Thanks in advance!

I assume you meant 2018. I see a ton of hotels on hotwire. Decent prices to considering that's the last day of essence fest.

Edit: nevermind. I was looking at the 8th. The 7th would be the Saturday night of essence fest and prices are jacked up. I’d stay outside of New Orleans...somewhere along your route.

Try Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Are you driving?? We have stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott and it was a fantastic stay. Best free breakfast of any hotel I've stayed. It's about an hour and a half from New Orleans, but a very easy drive into N.O.

You could also try Biloxi/Ocean Springs. If you ever go to casinos, you might be able to snag a deal at one of the casino hotels.

We are cruising out of NOLA on October 7th. The hotel prices are very high and there is limited availability. Is there anything going on at that time or is this normal?

When I look at hotwire for the night of 10/6/18 I see quite a few hotels in the $110-150 range...including one of the most popular precruise hotels, Hilton Riverside for $129. Pretty standard prices for Saturday night in New Orleans.

I'm seeing the Embassy Suites available for $143 non-refundable or $179 flexible for the night of 10/6. In addition, there are several hotels near the airport in the $100 - $110 range for that night. Other than that, it appears to be normal pricing for a Saturday night during the fall (i.e several hotels in the $150 - $220 range).

If I were you, I would at least reserve something at one of the refundable rates, and keep checking later on. If you see something later that is a better deal, you can cancel your original reservation, and re-book the better deal.

One item to note.... The New Orleans Saints Football schedule will be announced in April. If the Saints have a home game on October 7, prices of hotels in the downtown and French Quarter areas could double versus the current rates. If the Saints end up playing away that weekend, hotel prices will probably drop.
