Can Onboard Credit Be Used For Anything

As I recall there was a period of time when the early-booking benefit (for booking a cruise more than a year in advance) consisted of on-board credit to be used only for shore excursions. That was subsequently changed so the early-booking benefit OBC given after that period can be used just like any other Azamara-given on-board credit, for just about anything other than casino chips

So, if your early-booking benefit OBC dates from that specific period of time when it was given for shore excursions only, then it can be used...well....for shore excursions only. I don' think the restriction has been lifted on early-booking benefit dating from that period.

We booked last summer for our upcoming Baltic cruise and for "early booking" received $400 to be used only for shore excursions. We also received some general OBC from Azamara for on-board booking and from our travel agent which can be used for anything.

On our recent cruise on the Journey we had early booking OBC which was only to be used for shore excursions. We didn't use it all and our on board account towards the end of the cruise showed we had $100 OBC left and didn't show any restrictions. I was nervous about using it in the shop but my DH asked at the Guest Relations and was assured it could be used for anything. We spent it in the shop with no issues. I wish I had know earlier that I could use it for anything as we would have booked the speciality restaurants. My advice would be to check when you board how the credit actually shows on your account.

Thanks for telling us this. Wondering if it's a policy or an individual circumstance. Really makes sense to do it this way now that the early booking benefit has been changed to remove the restriction.

Please tell me more about the removal of the restriction for early booking OBC being only used for excursions. Got that early booking benefit a year ago and was told excursions only. This is the first I've seen about a change. Thought the previous person was able to use for other than an excursion thru an error on board.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Why do you say there was "an error on board?"

We recently booked "early" and were told the OBC can be used for anything. Must have been a nuisance for on board staff to keep track of this kind of OBC vs. that kind of OBC.

Maybe the early booking benefit has now become the early booking bonus.

Said error onboard as had not heard early booking was good for anything onboard and were told when we got the bonus was only for excursions thanks for the link. Looks like we can spend the money as we please. Good news.

You know that Bonnie has been working on fixing these problems. It seems that Azamara has decided that BOTH should be changed to be more customer friendly. So now (or soon) we will be able to use OBC to pre-book excursions, or onboard to use for anything. That's the customer service we expect from Azamara, and that (as long as the RCCL legacy computer systems don't interfere) we will get!

I've no idea wether it was an error or change of policy. We only became aware of it on the last day and didn't ask the question. It would have been nice to know in advance if there had been a change of policy.

I'm totally confused now!

Bonnie has there been a change in the OBC rules. Very much affects two upcoming cruises where the Land Discoveries don't quite tick our boxes (many ports we've done before, our problem not Azamara's) but I could pick up some of the Christmas list in the shop (aftershave, perfumes etc)

Yes uktog, more and more confusing. The link provided does say that the early booking OBC that at least was only for excursions can be used elsewhere on board and the onboard report seems to support that premise. Then HostJazzbeau says Bonnie is working both booking excursions using OBC prior to embarkation as well as removing the OBC excursion restriction while people are impatiently waiting to book excursions pre-cruise with their restricted OBC.

Sounds to me a lot like the old Abbott and Costello who's on first schtick!! With all this conflicting information, I have written to Azamara asking what, if any restrictions we have on our OBC and waiting for that response. Really need Bonnie to chime in as uktog requested and clear up all the conflicts.

Frankly I thought the shorex restriction on the old EBB had been lifted awhile ago, and I believe I posted this at some point, but from the sounds of things (on this thread) this may not be the case...or perhaps its not being applied consistently? :o

Please give me a day or two to get an official policy on what happened to the old EBB when we rolled out the new EBB (referring to the link marinaro44 shared above.)

Thanks Bonnie! We have the OBC just for shore excursions on our up-coming T/A on Quest in early November and would really like to know how to proceed! LuAnn

Although I rarely post on this board I follow it closely and I don't recall reading about restrictions being lifted.

As an aside we have recently returned from our first Azamara cruise for many years and it was wonderful in all areas, even better than we remembered 😊 Hopefully it won't be as long until the next one.

I asked my travel agent to find out when the policy changed if our OBC could be used for anything. He asked and the response was no! It's excursions only.

Unless the customer service reps haven't been informed of a policy change, either. We booked in March 2016 for our upcoming cruises in October and I would love it if we weren't restricted to using the OBC only for excursions - I'd much rather have a bottle of Caymus!:wine-glass: We have three OBCs listed on our invoices and there's no indication which one is for B2B, for booking onboard or EBB. I'll have to call Azamara to find out since they are also locked online.

Good news!

Yes, the old EBB OBC can be used for anything onboard (with the regular exceptions of the Casino or future booking deposits.)

I've just had this confirmed by our Hotel Department management.

And I apologize for the conflicting information. I'll make sure we are all on the same page!

Really appreciate you getting this information Bonnie. Unfortunately while the Hotel Department Management confirmed this information, as I mentioned earlier, I had written to Azamara Customer Service for the answer and will copy and paste the answer I got below which is incorrect based on your quoted post.

Believe there needs to be a concerted effort by Azamara to inform people in all levels of Azamara staff of this new rule so that everyone gets the identical same response to the question of restricted OBC. Think it better for you to work this issue from the top down at Azamara rather than me responding to this email telling them they are incorrect. Also please notice the strange spellings of reservation and Excursions indicating the probability of the response coming from the Costa Rica customer staff who usually don't have the correct answer.

Dear David,

Thank you for contacting Azamara Club Cruises. I understand you have questions regarding the onboard credit.

After reviewing the onboard credits on the resevartion. $ 500.00 usable for Shore Excursiones only. The other $ 200.00 and $ 500.00 you can use them for anything you would prefer onboard except the casino.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any questions please contact us at 1-877-999-9553 or via email at AzamaraCustomerService@azamaraclubcruises.com

I agree with you 1000%. This is the same person who told me the ship arrives in Cyprus an hour after it leaves Haifa. Clearly once again the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. See his name below. I cut and pasted it. This guy I think is making things up as he goes along without a clue what is wrong and what is correct. nor does he care the information is not what it should be

Kathy

5. I purchased a tour in Cyrus that leaves at 8;30 am but the ship does not arrive until noon?

> Azamara Journey will be arriving at twelve o'clock at night 05/10/18 in Limassol, Cyprus

I hope this information is helpful. Please do not reply to this email, should you have any questions please contact us at 1-877-999-9553 or via email at AzamaraCustomerService@azamaraclubcruises.com
