Azamara Enhances Cruise Ship Entertainment With New Broadway Show

This is potentially very appealing to us...depending on quality. Could be a very entertaining alternative to the usual cruise ship show that is done on just about every cruise line. We'll see.

Looks better than typical cruise entertainment, which I'm not crazy about anyway. It's cliche and gets old. Great move by Azamara.

I think the announced changes sound very promising. I hope the singers and dancers get jobs elsewhere in the Royal/Celebrity family, but it was obvious that the R-ships are too small to support enough variety with their small casts (and small stages). Hopefully the links to these three external groups will mean that shows can change more frequently. I do wish they had kept the dancers [we only know Alex and Alina from Quest], since they are really talented and I would think their skills could be integrated into the new shows. It also becomes even more important that Azamara hold on to their great Cruise Directors [like Russ], since they will now be expected to carry even more of the solo-show load.

Tonight will be 54 Below at Sea, Daniel Reichard from the original cast (broadway) of Jersey Boys. Excited to see!

The new trio from the Ukraine was also good. They performed last night in Living Room.

The trio consisted of a guitar player, keyboard and female singer. They played some Latin flavored music. It was quite enjoyable. Some danced to the music in LR.

The 54 show was wonderful. The cabaret seating was done a little differently in the very front to make more of an intimate dinner club feel. There are featured cocktails from 54 below menu. for an extra fee. Daniel Reichard was very, very good. He will be performing a couple more shows.

Tonight is the premiere of City Theatre......short plays that last 10 min or so. We will probably have to miss because we are doing specialty restaurant.

There is an Opening Night Reception in LR. They will have complimentary cocktails from 54 Below to try and the actors and performers will be there.

The special cocktails were not being promoted much the first night. In fact, I had to ask for a menu.....just looking to see what was offered and the price. Prices were around $7.50, if I remember correctly.

Hi Phil,

The cocktails were more like what is listed under their late night cocktail menu. I remember the “Hamiltini” was one on the list. There were about 7-8 cocktails on the menu.

Looking at the link Phil posted, our bar servers were dressed as the 54 Below Servers are in the picture.....all in black with suspenders. They are trying to carry the ambiance of Club 54 experience over to the ship.

Well just for one moment there I was thinking "goodness that's very racy for Azamara" Black Suspenders.

However after looking at the link I presume Suspenders are what we call Braces in the UK and not things to hold up one's stockings (hose) as in the films Cabaret or Chicago !

Second from right is Julius. I'm not sure of the other guy in the middle. Can't remember his name, but he is on Quest all of the time. Far left is Lajos, Bar Manager.

In Club54 they are black suspenders, but onboard please refer to them as “Azamara Blue” 😉
