Yep the Galveston webcams show thick fog and no ships in port yet.

Weather forecast is for the fog clearing later today with cloudy skies and chance of rain. Wishing well to all those currently on Liberty with flights home today...

This has been an issue for almost 3 days. My son works loading chemicals on ships in the port of Houston. He has been waiting on a ship for 2 days now. They opened the port for a few hours yesterday. they had almost forty eight ships in line to come in. Hopefully it will burn off soon since our weather here is improving. Major downfall of cruising out of Galveston.

Main reason they closed down the cruise port in LaPorte.

Yeah that was a fun conversation with the airline when i had to try and explain their own change fee policies to them.

Got a flight out tomorrow morning. And a hotel for tonight.

It’s going to be a zoo to disembark:eek:

Been sitting at anchor 100 miles away off Port Arthur since Thursday for fog. About 2 ships let in/out in that time. Forecast is no break in weather for about another week. Best bet for Galveston is mid to late afternoon, but then likely won't leave again until the next day.

We are on the liberty of the seas and the port is fogged in.

The are saying it might open by noon it that still won’t get us tied up until 1:30 2:00

Here I was complaining about how cold and windy it was waiting for the shuttle last Sun !

Tired of weather delays in Galveston had problems on last 2 cruises , will avoid this port even though it is close to home

Once, in December 2009, we were fog delayed for over 2 days...didn't leave port until Tuesday morning and missed one port. Still a great cruise and unique in that 900+ passengers departed Monday night to take advantage of a full refund offer. It was so nice in the theater and Windjammer without the usual crowds.

Still...we love being able to drive to port and we love the Liberty so we continue to accept the fog risk. But if I were flying to port...it would not be to Galveston.

What a mess getting off the ship! Suddenly everyone was “self disembark” they opened the door and it was everyone for themselves. The lines for customs were a mess. Sorry Royal Caribbean but someone needs more training..

Still can't get off the ship. They pushed our luggage tag to 4pm. Got a 7 hour drive after this. Still not as bad as people scrambling for flights.

My wife said at one point Cafe promenade was making tomato sandwiches. Lines were insane since the only things open was sarentos and the cafe.

We tried To find the end of the line to self debark and after walk ing through the photo shop all the way back to the other side of the casino and back through to other side of the photos we found ourselves next to the r bar.

Basically once we found the end we were at the front.

Our friends did not get off the ship, through customs, and into thier car from self parking at the terminal until 5:35pm

It’s now 7pm and all i have eaten today is a cookie from the hotel and we are waiting for a dinner table.

Can’t blame RCl for the weather but it was handled poorly.

But hey, at least they put on some super hero movie to watch while we waited.

Just inland from Port Arthur. The sun broke out mid day and we had a beautiful afternoon. Hope you were able to come in! Are you headed to the port of Port Arthur or Beaumont?

We'll be going to Beaumont. Yeah, pretty common for the port to clear midday, but the lower channel to still be foggy, port is still closed, has been except for two ships on Saturday. There's about 20 ships stacked up waiting to go outbound, and they will have priority, then there's about 15-18 inbounds sitting out here. We're scheduled to follow another ship to the dock, and she's still out here, so even if the port opens, they get the outbounds moving, and then take her in, we will still be a couple of days from going in. Seems worse this year, but pretty typical of Texas coast in winter, we'll likely be out here until next weekend.

Why so long to get 15 ships inbound? Limited facilities to offload the cargo? Cargo offload takes a long time?
