We're not much for Mix & Mingle (hubby, self, friend). Not social media users either.
On first cruise 1992 (Ha! the Alaska Ferry from Haynes to Belingham - cheaper than Princess, same view), hubby & I spent all our time laughing at the view (sky, trees, water; sky, trees, water -ooh dolphin; etc.) and visiting our cat in the car. And we camped at Sitka for 2 full days of hard rain alongside a quickly rising salmon-stream.
On second cruise 2003 (port intensive - Athens-Corfu-Olympia-Santorini-Dubrovnik-Istanbul-Venice) it was basically a floating hotel - hubby & I traveled with older couple (family) and met a young couple at dinner. The other two couples hit it off and did several cruises together. I remember meeting the prince of some eastern European country who gave an economics lecture.
On third cruise 2018 (Brilliance... Key West & Cozumel) - the 3 of us had big plans, none of which worked out: no ferry in Mexico so visiting Chichen Itza was cancelled (I may have had too much to drink and missed dinner - I would hate to blame the water or the food); Key West was cold & choppy but we tried the cat & snorkel - no sail, no sun, lots of wind & waves & free drinks. I did take part in a team puzzle competition at the end of the cruise and our friend made a connection in the casino and hubby enjoyed the 68deg water & snorkel. We still enjoyed the experience and our friend won a free cruise (stateroom with balcony) in the casino so we're going on the Oasis 12/2/2018. She has an ocean view, we've booked a Boardwalk view balcony. We're discussing the shore options but the personal sub-scooters look fun to me.

A meet & greet on boarding day might be worthwhile. I can drag them out.

I have only done a few M & G and they weren't very well attended, but I do like to chat with everyone. this last time we met a couple who were on the cruise with only the clothes they wore on to the ship. Their luggage was left on the bus. But I'll never forget their great attitude. They said they learned that you can do without all that extra stuff and still have fun. Carnival gave them all kinds of things to help get them through. So I'm glad I attended that one. I'll never forget them and their great outlook.
Mostly I can talk with anyone, but I do like to have dinner with just my family. It's our time to connect and talk about the day and what's up for the next day. When on the ship, I like to find a spot to rest and read, maybe talk to my 'neighbor', but not really into joining activities.
I will try to attend our meet in 2 weeks, hope to get some ideas about the ports that are new to us.

I usually spend time with family, but this time around I will be joining the CC meet and greet!

Curious about your cruising style. Are you the type to "Meet and Mingle"? It can be through a Cruise Critic sponsored Meet & Mingle party - or it could be meeting up with people on your roll call. Heck it could even be meeting people your first day on board and deciding that you want to spend more time with them on vacation.
Maybe you prefer not to meet and mingle - and use the vacation to recharge, or reconnect with your own family or friends.

Which style suits you?

Me? Honestly I am an introvert at heart and shy to boot. I have attended Meet and Mingles but am usually found on the outskirts (unless I have CC goodies to share!) I do like to meet up with people from my roll call though. Go see a comedian or grab a coffee. I think I do better in smaller groups in that instance. I also don't mind meeting new friends on board to hang out with. I will say that I do prefer to have dinner with just my family though - I find being seated with strangers at dinner awkward.

We have never attended a meet a greet but we do enjoy meeting new people on our cruises. We have made some very nice friends and hope to meet many more. We often dine with others as a way to meet people and also make friends during activities on board. Looking forward to our next cruise to Bermuda on the 27th of this month.

I love to go to the Meet and Greets, I've been to two of them (other sailings didn't have any) and I had a great time! We met, had snacks and drinks and took group pics. I'm planning on attending the next one in June
Yay for CC MandGs!

This is our first cruise and we plan to attend the Meet and Mingle. Excited to meet others on our cruise. Our Roll Call to this point has not been very active, but like I mentioned this is our first cruise so I'm not sure what to expect.

Yes, We always attend the Meet and Mingles (Meet & Greet) This will be our 6th cruise and have attended 5 of them as they do not offer them for the first timers. We meet many type of people from all around the world. And some have become very good friends to this day.

Meet and Mingles are my thing. I definitely sign up and follow our roll call and look forward to chatting with other cruisers and meeting the crew who make our vacation wonderful, relaxing and safe. You never know who you will meet during a M&M event and how valuable they will be. I am so glad I attended the meet and mingle on the Celebrity Summit cruise in November 2017 because we met the ship's Hotel Director, Mario. He guided us through the process of "landing" suitcases of medical supplies we had brought with us that were going to Barbuda via the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society in Antigua. The ship's documentation specialist completed the documentation for us and accompanied us to customs. Mario made this process easy and seamless and helped bring some hurricane relief in a small fashion to the island of Barbuda.

Looking forward to our next cruise in June and will definitely be going to the Meet and Mingle, although it will be an informal one as the ship doesn't arrange anything. This will be our first M&M and I look forward to meeting the people I have "met" on the roll call

I enjoy Meet and Mingles very much, especially when name tags are used with location information. Being from Michigan, I usually wear some sort of t-shirt to stimulate conversation with people who follow sports (Like a Lions jersey) which inevitably leads to the magic questions 1. Where are you from? 2. Have you traveled on ____ cruise line before? 3. What did you retire from? (I travel on HAL) and 4. What are you looking forward to most on your vacation?

One of the funnier moments: One year I organized our CC group, which was quite large (to the Baltics). The meet and mingle went very well, I met an interesting man who was also traveling with his young family. (as was I) Apparently he had enjoyed the camaraderie and information that was provided on the roll call, and thanked me for my contributions. His family was unable to attend the M&M, but he and my husband and I chatted for about 20 minutes. Fast Forward about a week later, we are in Helsinki, Finland touring the Cathedral. I see the man, who is now with his younger son, and I greeted both of them warmly. My teenage daughters were standing behind me. The man introduced me to his son, who exclaimed rather loudly, "oh my gosh, are you piccolopower??? I can't believe I actually met you" very loudly in the church, as if royalty had just arrived. Well that was the beginning of a family joke which has lived on, to this day. My lovely daughters, who have a great sense of humor, will randomly start ribbing me "Oh My Gosh, are you piccolopower?!", especially when I am acting a bit high and mighty.

All because of a roll call....and a meet and mingle. LOL
How did you go about organizing?
We hit our 25 for out m&m. I've of the members said they needed a host and I would like to help, but have no idea what is involved and what to do. I've never even been to a m&m, as I'm fairly be to cc.

If my memory is correct, our last cruise was in 2010. I'd say it's time to sail again! On our last cruise, I was very involved in getting our cruise critic group together. We had a fantastic Meet & Greet. Usually, it is hard to top something so good. I made everyone colored ribbons to wear around their necks. So, when we saw a ribbon, we waved or stopped to chat. It was so nice to know we already had a connection to so many people. We gather early in the cruise to exchange gifts, kinda like at Christmas. The gifts were to represent the town or state where we live. There was lots of wine and candy and lots of switching gifts, a great way to get to know one another. The cruise line gave a special luncheon meal on the last sea day as a see you again some time gathering just for us. It was super. We did a slot machine tournament and a poker run kinda thing. It was all so much fun. So, to sum up, I enjoy Meet&Greet,
How do you go about organizing this?

I love meeting new people at dinner and on excursions. I always meet awesome people! I have never been to a meet and mingle. This July on Oasis will be my first. I'm new to cc and feel I would enjoy this. We met our 25 minimum, but I have no idea what the next step is. Someone posted we needed a host. I would like to be involved, but have no idea where too start with organization.

I always register for the Meet and Mingle. I participate in the roll calls. There I like to get involved with the cabin crawls, slot pools and any private excursions being organized. Also if there are lots of sea days, then making plans for some afternoon game playing (cards, boards). Keeps me out of the casino I am always amazed once on board of how many other passengers are not aware of cruise critic.
