Boarding Time !

Are they holding to the assigned decks on boarding times on Emerald Princess ! I see different blogs on site !

Show up at your assigned time and you will stroll on with no wait

The assigned times are suggestions, not mandates.

No reason to hold to those boarding times. No one at the port seems to even know what they are.

When do we get our "assigned times"?

We've never been stopped from boarding before our assigned boarding time.

We always show up when we want and have never had an issue. Last cruise it said on the boarding pass 1 p.m. We arrived at about 11am and were on board, dropped luggage in room and eating lunch by 12.

There is a paragraph about that on the last page of my very long receipt, but I don't know if it shows up anywhere else.

Boarding times are a suggestion in hopes of reducing crowding and wait times. The later you arrive the better chance you have of not needing to wait to board. Check in walk on. The earlier one arrives the longer the wait.

From the size of the crowds arriving at the piers in Florida, I can't imagine anyone actually believing the instructions to adhere to that staggered boarding schedule. :D

I have read (here) about this being enforced in San Francisco ... once in a while.

Where shore staff claimed there wasn't room for people to line up.

What do they do with the people that arrive early?

The only thing that I can remember is making them wait on the street in line.

Usually get an email a week or 2 before you sail.

OP: sometimes there will be a notification to NOT show up at the port before a certain time...this is done for deep cleaning, inspections, etc. They do adhere to that arrival time, but the "suggestion" by decks is just that...a suggestion.
