Yes the inside passage. We live in WA. Will be cruising with family members from MA.

What should we pack for clothes?

What excursions do you recommend?

We have inside rooms. Are all staterooms metal? I ask because I read somewhere that hanging clothing is a challenge.

Pack layers, (i.e t-shirt, shirt, sweater, rain jacket), beanie, gloves, sunscreen. Binoculars, camera and spare batteries (the cold really kills batteries quickly, so keep the camera warm when not shooting).

At Skagway, the tour that does the train to white horse pass, then coach down to Liarsville with lunch and gold panning, then a trip to the Red Onion.

Ketchikan, - seaplane to misty fiords.

Most cabins will have metal walls and ceilings.

We almost always do inside since we use the cabin only to shower, change clothing, sleep! But we did have a mini suite in Alaska that was nice when it was cold to run in to warm up! Be up on deck all the time to enjoy the views and comradery!

You won't need winter clothes for much in August! Lots of Sunlight day and night and lots of Green!

Don't miss going up on the Glaciers! Take in a Salmon bake if you have time! Go on a whale watching boat since August is when the whales are running! Keep a diary,of atleast what you did where, you won't regret taking 15 minutes a day to jot it down! Everyday go down to the cruise desk and take a photo of the port activity board with the Date and Port to start that day's photos!

We have 38 days before our 5 cruises on Royal's Independence of the Seas after staying in London for three nights!
