Ocean View vs. Balcony - Which to Choose?

I'm looking at a September Star Breeze cruise and wonder if the price difference between balcony (Deck 6) and ocean view (Deck 6) is worth it. Looks like the square footage of the rooms is the same. Any opinions from cruisers who have experience with either or both categories? Thanks.

It depends on where the cruise is going. All you get with the balcony is a one foot step out. So if you are doing a lot of cruising with things you might want to see the balcony is nice. If you are off the ship or spending a lot of time in port I don’t find that it matters. The cabins are identical and you can always go up on deck to watch the views. It is sometimes nice to be able to open the door and get a breeze - up it’s really up to you whether that is worth the price. We have had both and it sometimes is just a matter of itinerary and price.

Thanks! This cruise looks to be pretty port-intensive, so if the cabins are identical, I think the price difference would discourage me from springing for a French balcony.

I've sailed aboard these ships many times (under both Seaborne and Windstar flags and love them). I was upgraded to one of the French balcony accommodations on our last cruise at no charge and liked it but not enough to spend the considerable price difference to book one of those suites in advance - even for a port intensive cruise.
