I will follow this. I saw a video review of the elevators that suggested to best use the new smart elevators, one must hit the button for as many people who are with u. If u need to go to the Lido with 3 others (four total) you should hit the button 4 times.

Spent 14 days on Horizon TA. Standard cabins have very little storage, we were in 6206. Soft packing cubes worked great. So did skinny wire hangars (only 1 closet), magnet hooks for hats etc. Wish I had brought a mesh pop up hamper, only had 3 drawers & used 1 for laundry.

Yes, each person needs to touch elevator screen.

Loved our Horizon TA!

Can you (or anyone else) give more specific instructions on the elevator? I get that we touch a screen and it directs us to an elevator. But if there are 5 of us, and we have to "order" it for each person, couldn't we get assigned to different elevators by the time we finish?

Let's say your group of 5 is on deck 3. You want to go to deck 9. You each press the screen in the hallway by the elevators indicating your choice. The announcement says "Car S'. You go to the Car S door. They open & there are a dozen people already in there because they did not all indicate their intent. You can always squeeze in or try again. It really is easy & y'all will be fine.

What's so smart about that? I have that happen all the time with regular elevators! :D

I guess some cabins have more storage than others....I was in an outside cabin on deck 1 (1298) and had 3 closets...two for hanging clothes and the third one had 2 shelves, the safe, and 3 drawers.. The end tables next to the bed had some storage underneath as well.

Noticing Horizon is different than other Carnival ships I've been on, (e.g., elevators), it would be nice to have a consolidated thread where cruisers share their best tips, or links to tips. Here's one I like a lot:

I'm borrowing this from SNJCruisers post on our 8/28/18 Horizon Roll Call (thanks for this SNJ!)...

Here is the first link to a 10 part series on the Horizon.https://cruiseradio.net/carnival-hor...ruise+Radio%29

Bumping this to the top because I'm very glad I read it before our Horizon cruise.

In particular, the things I liked most about the Horizon were:

  • the free lunches with quality food you don't get on Lido at Cucina (linguini with fresh clams in white sauce!), Pig and Anchor (pulled pork butt!), and Ji's Ji's (ask them not to spray the wok with Pam and your food will taste better).
  • skyride
  • privatish "secret" areas at the front of the ship on a few decks, in particular the one right in front of the Spa
  • theaters
  • water slides

The things I didn't like were:

  • casino dealers were caught by yours truly no less than 30 times not paying correctly on HeadsUpHold'em and ALL 30+ times were UNDERPAYMENTS. Making mistakes is human, but when it's only underpayments and no accidental overpayments, I am suspicious. Once I even had to correct the pit boss who wanted to pay $325 on a $375 win.
  • staff/cruiser ratio is noticeably poor and lots of people were complaining the cruise wasn't as fun as other class ships.
  • For the most part, Lido deck food and MDR food is the same old Carnival crap.

I forgot to mention... I'm not a fan of the Broadway/Musical productions because the talent on Carnival ships is usually mixed at best, and high school drama club at worst, but it looks like Carnival upped the budget significantly - Vintage Pop was outstanding, every singer and dancer was excellent, and the choreography was perfect. I was HAPPILY shocked! Also, the musical talent - they had three electric violinists playing with a sax and a couple horns in the atrium and they were amazing.

Those secret decks are great we book inside 4J cabins forward and get that nice deck as our balcony right outside our door

Anyone have any tips on traveling with infant? We are in a balcony room. Is there anyway to create a “partition” around the crib? Do the rooms have bath tubs?

I was in a balcony and no there is no tub. Some people recommend bringing the blow up bath tub (munchkin duck is like $14 at target). Honestly, my son was fine just showering with one of us. As for a partition...not sure. The room isn't terribly large and we never got a crib after this first cruise at 6 months because it just took up too much space.

We were in an outside cabin on deck 1 (1298) and had a full bathroom with shower and another bathroom with tub/shower and sink (no toilet)....no balcony but plenty of outside spaces to sit on the ship.

Are there chairs/loungers on the "secret decks" I believe we have one very close to our cabin. It would be a nice place to spend the day :)if so :)

Why do people call them secret decks? If they were secret, no one would know about them. I have never seen any chairs or loungers in these areas, but I have only been on 22 cruises on Carnival so that doesn’t amount to much time wise considering there are now 26 ships sailing 365 days a year.
