AARP - what am I doing wrong?

They tend to be more readily available when these threads are not front-page, to be honest.

Could it be these threads are front page when people are looking for the card availability to return? That front paginess :cool:is a result of cards being unavailable, not the cause?

Six of one, half dozen of the other, I would wager. Someone goes looking, then posts a thread, and then more people go looking. Either way, it trends cyclic.

can anyone purchase the card through AARP? or do you have to be a member?

You do not need to be a member. You need to set up an account on AARP.com. Take a few quizzes to earn points on the rewards for good section and then redeem the points for gift cards. It took about a week for me to get the last one via mail. They say they will send a tracking number but they never did. It just showed up. Hope that helps.

Once you have registered on aarp.com (it may be .org), look for the Rewards For Good section ( it may be on the bar at the top of the page). When you go to the Rewards For Good page, there you will find your points balance on the top right hand side. This is also where you find different ways to use your points. Select Gift Cards, then Travel. The Carnival cards are under that.

Also on the AARP and Rewards for Good pages is where you find on the top bar the section on Earn points. Click on that and you gave many different types of little quizzes you can take for different points. Hope this was helpful.
