How do you carry your sign and sail card?

Question for experienced cruisers? How do you carry your sign and sail card? Do they provide some kind of lanyard with card holder? Or do people put them in their wallets? I'm imagining wanting to wander around the ship without a purse, and my kids don't usually carry wallets, so how do people keep their cards on them? Actually, because our room reservations don't match where we will actually be sleeping, both my oldest son and I are going to have to carry two cards with us -- one for charging and one for access to the room we are sleeping in. So double the consideration. ;-)

Many use lanyards (you can get a cheapie for free in the casino or a more robust one for a fee in the gift shop).

I use my pocket.

I generally wear clothing with no pockets while on cruises (dresses and skirts). And I dislike lanyards. So I carry a very small purse, usually a wristlet type, for my S&S card, tissues, cash for tips, Germ-X wipes, FunTimes tear-off (when this existed:rolleyes:), etc. Everybody is different, but this is the best option for me.:)

I bring my own lanyard from home because I don't like the plastic telephone cord type the casino gives you. A lot of my cruising outfits don't have pockets and I don't carry a purse on the ship so that's why I do it that way. For the people that hate on lanyard users, would you rather me put it in my bra? It gets a little warm out there in the Caribbean [emoji15]!

I know you weren't necessarily referring to me, but just to clarify: I have never "hated on" lanyard wearers. Nor would I ever "hate on" them. To each their own. I dislike lanyards. I do not dislike people for wearing them, or criticize them for it. There are people on the boards who have "hated on" purse carriers, as well. It just shows the intolerance / insecurity / pettiness / just plain nastiness of said haters.

Thanks, all, for the info and advice. I just ordered four clear waterproof card holders with lanyard from Amazon for my family and me. We may not all use them all the time but I want to keep our options open.

My friend bought us some nice blingy lanyards last cruise that were kind of fun but I usually avoid them as it makes me feel like I'm at a trade show. I usually have on shorts with a pocket or carry a very small purse if I have no pocket. I saw some of those springy wristbands at Lowe's a while back and think I'll be getting one of those before my next cruise.

A buncha cruises ago, we spent the big money and purchased Carnival lanyards in the Fun Shops...then only a few cruises ago, my wife spent money and got one of those sparkly ones, also from the onboard Fun Shops....we were traveling with a group, and the ladies wanted to have sparkly lanyards. Then, last October, on NCL's Hawaii cruise, we spent more long dough on Hawaiian themed lanyards.....then there are the ones we've had for a number of years from WDW....So we've accumulated a collection of lanyards to use...good to have lanyard options.

You're right - I was not referring to you. Everyone has their preferences and I have no issue with that. What I don't like is the people that say that using a lanyard is trashy, or what have you so I thought I would just go ahead and get my preemptive strike out of the way [emoji3].

That's a great idea! You may be like we have & "stash" a little cash or a map or something else in there. Will be so nice to have it waterproof & you'll be glad to have them!

We have 4 children & we've gradually collected several different lanyard styles. My favorite is a pretty beaded one that looks like a necklace. Hubby's is one that is clear on the front & has a little zip pocket on the top. We are ordering clear waterproof lanyards for our Samsung Notes for this next cruise so I wonder if our cards will just slide into that? We shall see!

Have a wonderful cruise! :)

Gotcha!;):) Likewise, I just love it when people imply that those of us carrying purses are obviously ignorant newbies who don't know how to cruise properly.

Hahahahaha. Yeah, no, I really don't care if someone is carrying a purse. I do that enough at home, I sure as heck don't want to have to keep track of it on the ship. I try and forget everything but my own name while soaking up the sun in the Caribbean [emoji484].

I wear a lanyard AND a fanny pack.

first thing to do when you get to your cabin is take your DL of of your wallet and put your wallet in the safe, you will have no reason to carry a wallet. I only use the DL for getting back on the ship

A pocket. Lanyards look ridiculous and are uncomfortable, the wrist things ditto, and both make anyone "look old" which as an aging person I try to avoid :). I buy swimsuits that have a pocket or two. My current suits have a velcro pocket on the butt that works perfectly for my S&S card, and I can confirm that these cards are unaffected by water exposure or being repeatedly sat upon! :p
