Hello ~ We sailed the Carnival Legend on July 31, 2018 for our 30th anniversary. This was our 5th cruise and our first vacation in 15 years without the kids! (they're now 26 & 21). We had a balcony cabin on deck 7 and had FTTF.

Thoughts on the Legend: We liked the layout. It compared in size to the Freedom. The dining room was at the back and not in the center to cut up the decks. Most things were on Deck 2 Promenade.....Dining at the back....Alchemy bar....Red Frog Pub......Coffee bar.......Casino....etc. Deck 3 had the piano bar, shops, pictures. We really liked the Firebird Lounge location and design - it was deck 1 very front underneath the show lounge. Nice size, big stage, much better seating arrangement than other comedy clubs on other ships. The decor was like all the rest. Glass staircase going up to the Steakhouse. The Lido was unusual. The very back was the Serenity area with a pool & hot tub. Next was the Lido buffet, then the "covered pool" where Guys Burgers, Blue Igauna Burrito bar, the Red Frog Rum Bar & Blue Iguana Cantina & the stage for the DJ. On nice days, they retract the roof. But after that is another lido pool area that is uncovered all the time & is quieter. (Sometimes it was too hot to sit around the covered pool)

The Legend also has the traditional mini golf, basketball, ping pong, and waterworks slides. Each pool area also has a hot tub.

We flew from Kansas City to Seattle via Delta and landed at 9:00 am. We stayed at the Sleep Inn SeaTac. We had originally booked a downtown hotel to be close to stuff but they were all approx $350+ per night. I cancelled & changed to the Sleep Inn for $165. It was recently renovated & included free breakfast. Their shuttle transferred to/from the airport and restaurants close by. It picked us up, we checked in early, and then it dropped us off at the Blue light rail station. (Angle Park).

I have 1600 photos & bad internet. I'll try posting the beginning without any....

We only started cruising in 2013, and our Horizon cruise, 8/28/18, will be our 12th. As my signature says, our cruise to Alaska on the Carnival Legend was our favorite BY FAR. I am so looking forward to this review with pics! My daughter and I both agree that we can't wait for our next Alaska cruise out of Seattle. Just waiting on good prices from Carnival.

We cruised to Alaska the week before you did. Hope you had the same kind of weather that we did. It was in low- to mid-70s in all of the ports. If it rained at all it must have rained while we were sleeping.

Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Smurfm69: Waving ~ now I can concentrate on that Horizon cruise :)

Finally got all my pictures on Snapfish (because they have penny print sales) and now I can't get the pictures here. Any ideas?!

In comparison : The Alaska cruise itself was SO different than a caribbean cruise. There were very few lido deck activities. The only sail away deck party was Kethchikan. Even the Seattle Sail Away was different. I think I did 3 line dances in a row then it was suddenly over. We still had a wonderful cruise, just very different than what we're use to. A Naturalist was on board and would talk over the PA system when she spotted things, like whales, otters, or specific geographical things to know about. You couldn't hear her in your cabin unless you put the tv on channel 19. (I think it was 19....). She also had scheduled 'talks' in the lounge. One was on Alaska in general , whales, and volcanoes, etc All were really interesting and I learned a lot.

Ship notes: They still give your Sign & Sail when checking in.

Regular lights - do not need to put your card in the slot to keep them on

New flat screen tv

Digital safe, not the sign & sail kind

Has kiosks by the casino if you need to review your account

Sushi place costs extra but is really good. ($5 California Roll $7 Tempura Shrimp roll)

The weather was perfect. The forecast showed 80% chance of rain every day. It snowed on us & was cold on the Tracy Arm Fjord glacier excursion. At the top of the Summitt (train ride) in Skagway it was chilly if you stood outside on the platform while it was moving. Otherwise, I wore a hoodie in the morning but then took it off by afternoon. It was humid - which I did not expect. It is a rain forest though, so I should have. I was basically overdressed. It was also chilly once it got dark in Victoria.

We leave next Tuesday for our Alaskan cruise. Did you do any of the comedy shows? Were they good?

We love our lido deck parties in the carribean. I will miss them if there are less :(

What about trivia and other activities?

Was there a DJ around the pool areas?

I am so looking forward to our cruise...cant wait to hear more about yours!!

Lots of trivia.

My favorites were Friends and Big Bang Theory. Lots of music, movie, & tv show trivia too.

DJ by the covered pool but not playing anytime I checked. Sail away at Seattle and Ketchikan.

We did most of the comedy shows & they were good !

Handed out lots of Ships on a Stick, Champaigne and medals.

DJ Peter was good. Saw him everywhere !

Shows in the lounge at night were also good.

Sleep Inn has a free shuttle to area restaurants, light rail, & airport. We had them drop us off at the light rail. It was $6 each for all day. You purchased your ticket at a kiosk ATM like machine. Just get on the train & hang onto your ticket. No one ever asked for ours. We rode to Westlake Center, where we walked a few blocks downhill to the Pikes Place Market. We wandered around, had lunch at Cutter's Crabhouse down on the end by the grassy park, and tried macaroons at a bakery. The crowd was ridiculous, we could barely get close enough to see anything so moved on.....

We walked down through some of the outdoor shops & I got macaroons at a bakery. Then we went back up the hill towards Westlake Center Station. Next to it is Macy's (I think.....). Upstairs is the Monorail Station. It goes back/forth to the Space Needle, those being the only stops. It is $5 round trip.

We walked around the Space Needle. We chose not to go up....it was only $14 each I think, but neither of us really like heights. The view from the ground was fine. We went through the Chuhilly Glass Museum. We saw some of his pieces at the Atlantis in the Bahamas so knew this was something I wanted to do. It was beautiful. We bought our tickets there at the booth for $29. There is an inside exhibit area and an outdoor garden. I have no idea how hail & storms don't destroy them!
