First formal night?

Greetings Cunarders!

We are sailing on a “taster” 3 night cruise next week from Hamburg to Southampton and are very much looking forward to our first Cunard experience. Is there likely to be a formal night during that time?

Does your Voyage Personaliser show a "Gala Night" ? That's the new name for formal nights.

Even if they are all shown as Smart Attire one of them may change to Optional formal once you are onboard ( that happened on our 4 day Hamburg round trip in March).

I hadn’t spotted that - thank you. It does say Smart Attire for the three nights, so that will inform my packing!

There ist usually no formal night on the Ham-Sou sector.

I traveled on QM last November from Hamburg, to Southampton and on to NYC. There was not a formal night between Hamburg and Southampton but don't let that stop you from dressing as if there were. You cannot be over dressed on QM2, but you can be under dressed.

Thank you all - I am planning to travel with hand luggage only, so not having to pack a dinner suit will help. But fear not -- we won't let the side down by being under-dressed!
