Transportation from Disney World?

Trying to make plans. We have never traveled on a Disney Cruise but have done Disney about 20 times! We know a lot about the parks but NOTHING about a cruise!

Thinking of shortening one of our summer trips and then taking a short Disney Cruise. What is the best way to get from our resort to port? Our car, Uber, Disney bus (if there is one?)??

A lot depends with how many people in your party. You'll get different opinions, but we like to rent a car. I usually get a good deal from Avis and pick up from the Hilton next to Disney Springs. The Avis in port canaveral has a shuttle (as many of the rental car agencies do). Having a car gives us flexibility and the freedom to get there on our schedule.

If I understand correctly, you will have your car with you at Disney World, you will have to leave your car somewhere , so why not drive it to the port (45-50 minute drive ) and park it in the secure parking at the port

If you have your car available, use it. You can park at a secure garage right at the terminal. For a lower fee, there are several good private parking facilities which provide a shuttle to the terminal. For a short cruise, the increased cost of the port terminal is probably worth the convenience.

If you are driving to WDW, you'll have to park your car somewhere and unless you have a good friend there, you'll pay for it. OK, there are hotels that allow you to park in their lot when staying at the hotel before the cruise....but bottom line, you'll need a safe place to leave the car, and if you don't take it to Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach, you'll have to find a parking place in Orlando. WDW will not allow you to leave your car at their resorts.

There is a bus from WDW resorts--$35 per person each way. Renting a car makes no sense as you'll have your own available. For people who don't have a car at WDW, there are several rental companies that you can use to rent a car at WDW and drop it off near Port Canaveral, and they provide a free shuttle to the cruise terminal.
