Heading to Curacao in November..Last year we did an all inclusive excursion which was great..This year our group wants to go to a beach for the day on our own...We are a party of 4 adults looking for a fun beach with chair rentals, beach bar etc.

Mambo beach is nice. Lots of activity and chair rental. It is protected by a break wall so the water is calm. It can fill quickly so arrive earlier rather than later. I believe it cots us $3 per person to access the beach and $3.50 per chair. Taxi ride is $20 for up to 4 people.

Porto Mari has no entrance fee just the chair rental fee.

I was there last week and took a photo of the entrance sign. If you go there on a tour such as Irie tours the tour operator covers your entry fee, but if you go on your own you have to pay $3.

We must be lucky bc we live here and have been there many times and have never been asked to pay an entrance fee.

We will be in Curacao on May 2nd, 2018 for the first time. We are a group of (8) 4 couples and are trying to decide on an "All-Inclusive" or trekking to a beach on our own. The all inclusive are about $120 and some include free transportation food and drink. The options I have found are the following:

  • Santa Barbara Beach - $117

    • Free transport

    • Free Wi-Fi

    • Free Towel Service

    • 3 Pools / Beach

    • Unlimited Food & Drink

    [*]Sunscape Resort, Spa & Casino - $110

    • Self Transport (+$80 for a group of 8)
    • Free Wi-Fi
    • Towel Service $$$
    • 5 Pools / Beach
    • Unlimited Food & Drink

Going to a local beach could be considerably less depending on what beach fees, chairs umbrella / Food / Drinks cost are.

Would appreciate any experience from past cruisers who have been to Curacao and have done either or both of the options above. Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

After spending the day at Sunscape (I live in Curacao and sat through the vacation club talk to get 2 complimentary day passes), I would not recommend it. The beach area and pool are very nice but the food was below average and the staff everywhere (except 1 bartender) were rude and very lazy. Lots of cups on the beach all day, drink cups are very small.

Hello All - New member, first time posting. I was looking for a thread like this because my wife, and two other couples will be heading on a cruise in a couple of weeks and Curacao is one of our ports. I've been doing quite a bit of research and keep going back and forth on either going to Mambo Beach or Blue Bay. I've heard Mambo gets crowded, however everyone says it has lots to do. Blue Bay is a little quieter, is this accurate? I've also heard it's recommended to take taxis just outside the port when you cross the floating/rotating bridge (again is this accurate)? Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated on which everyone recommends.

Mambo can be crowded but there are several beach bars, shops and restaurants there.

I would say that Blue Bay tends to be quieter.

As for taxis, if you are going to Mambo, it might be a bit less expensive getting one across the floating bridge (about a 10 minute or so walk from the Megapier) but if you are going to Blue Bay, get one by the port as Blue Bay is on the same side of the island as the port.

Honestly don't know taxi rates as we always rented a car when we were on vacation here.
