ccotting Posted April 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Hi folks, our flight arrives about 5 am in Auckland and we were wondering if anyone had advice for us regarding cruise boarding. The cruise opens at 11 am. Even assuming baggage and what not takes an hour then we could potentially be at the port at 7:30 am. Trying to consider what to do. Anyone done this before with advice? Many thanks!

sweetp12 Posted May 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2018 There is lots to do in the heart of Auckland. Right by the wharf is the maritime museum (opens at 10am), or a short walk to the silo park or art gallery. There are supermarkets within walking distance if you want to pick up anything prior to boarding (countdown queen street). I agree with the suggestion to have a leisurely breakfast - and some of the best coffee in the world (ask for a flat white) before heading out to explore for a bit. laurieb Posted May 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2018 What cruise line are you sailing? We caught an Azamara cruise last year and were allowed to board as soon as we got to the ship. I believe it was around 10am
Beanb41 Posted May 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2018 The baggage check in opens between 8 and 9 am and in most instances on the larger ships boarding commences around 11.00 am. Take the Skybus from the airport and then walk to the port terminal to check in your bags. Be prepared for absolute chaos though. The street alongside the cruise terminal is narrow and will be full of taxis and private cars plus around 2000 - 3000 people trying to get away as soon as possible. There are a number of restaurants and cafes downtown where once yoy have dropped your bags off you can enjoy breakfast.. Just bear in mind that when you approach the cruise terminal you will be going against the traffic .
