Contemplating the New York-East Coast-Bermuda-New York cruise this August. Anyone have experience with this trip. Sounds great but wondering about heavy seas, hurricane risk between Bermuda and NYC. Any suggestions for what to see and do.

Greetings from South Beach, azam/1209. During hurricane season there is risk pretty much where ever they happen in the USA. Just think Katrina, Sandy, Houston and Irma, for openers. We watched Irma's bands sweep over our terrace last year. Power remained on throughout, and our building had no damage. Hurricane season spans six months. We never let it interfere with travel plans. If your cruise is going to be impacted by a hurricane, there will be changes that you will know about in advance.

We have visited Bermuda many times. On your cruise, you will probably have three and half days to visit. Check Oceania's excursion offerings to see where they offer. Take a look at Bermuda's websites, as well. We enjoy ourselves every time.

Aug maybe be less chance of Hurricanes but tropical storms can still happen

We booked a private tour in Bermuda or it is fairly easy to DIY depending on where the ship docks

Best time is May/June. Wonderful that time of year. Can get hurricanes in Aug. but mostly in Sept and Oct.

DW and I did this last yr in august. The cruise/weather was fine. However, the prior cruise, same route, did experience some weather. It's hit or miss.

As others have said, weather can be hit or miss!

We are doing the New England/Bermuda cruise this August and did it last year as well. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to do an Oceania cruise in driving distance to our home!

We had great weather last year all except the sea days home from Bermuda. I believe it was tropical depression #10 that gave us the trouble. We departed Bermuda many hours earlier to try to avoid the worst of the storm. The seas were ROUGH! So rough we even docked a few hours late in NY. Luckily we didn't get sea sick (we always take a daily dose of Bonine as a just in case) but many were.

A few years earlier we had done the 7 night Bermuda cruise on Celebrity in August and the seas were flat calm!
