Buffs

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, so please move it if it is not...

What do folks think about Buffs (buffusa.com). How well do they work keeping sun off the back of your neck? How well do they work as bug deterrence? Any advice about how to get use them would be appreciated.

Neck sun protection is almost nonexistent worn most ways.

Not too sure about bug protection either, just seems to be a barrier. Most applications it looks tight to the skin so biting things could bite through the fabric. Unless the fabric is coated.

Buffs are useless. If worn as a head covering or under a hat they just make you sweat more

My DH wears one when he fishes, along with a long-sleeved shirt and a hat. He has had two skin cancers on his neck and covers up now. If one's fishing in Florida, one's going to sweat, and his are not so tight that they cling to his skin.

They have a variety of them at Bass Pro Shops, and if you ever watch fishing shows (I do, under duress 😉), most of the folks wear them. Maybe it's a placebo thing, but then why not?

My husband wears the ones from safishing.com

He is a tower worker ( builds and maintains cell phone and radio towers). He wears one everyday up on the towers to protect from Sun and windburn. He swears by them. After seeing him wearing them some of the other guys ordered them too.
