Has anyone heard of the tour company Discover Uruguay based in Hartford, Conn.? They run tours to Iguazu Falls out of Buenos Aires. My friend is interested in using them, but is hesitant because she has never heard of them and they require a 50% deposit.

Thanks,

Susan

Just curious why you would use a tour company named Discover Uruguay to book a tour to Argentina FROM Argentina (unless you are going to the Brazilian side of the falls)? Have you looked at their website? It is all about Uruguay!!!

It is too darn easy to DIY to Iguazu Falls. You don't need a tour company. Book your air online, stay at the Sheraton. They will send someone to pick you up (for a fee). There are guides to take you around and you can book the boat trip through the Sheraton.

Viator, an international tour company, offers a simple tour.

If your friend can book the airline ticket, the rest is even easier. Enjoy!!!

^ this. The falls are within two national parks, one operated by Brazil and the other by Argentina. Just like the US park system, you pay a fee to enter, then tour within a fairly regulated manner. There are well-signed paths throughout both parks, which are very clean and well-maintained and support the usual tourist needs.

For a good overview, here's a link to the Wikitravel site: http://wikitravel.org/en/Igua%C3%A7u_Falls

Here is a link to the English version of the Argentine park:

We booked a tour with this company in December, 2015 and received a substandard tour with more people on the van than promised. We requested a portion of our money back but got a runaround and no satisfaction. In fact, the apparent owner Diego insulted us and told us everyone on the van "loved" the tour. But we ran into others who took the tour at the airport and they felt the same way. In our opinion, Diego is a shyster.

Hello:

As you may or may not know, we have a policy that does not allow tour operators/guides/businesses in ports of call to participate on our forums as we consider them "cruiser to cruiser". We do state that if a tour operator wishes, they can send us a response and we'll review before posting in response. In the spirit of the above, the below was sent to us by Discover Uruguay and is posted in it's entirety:

"We are disappointed to hear that you were not pleased with our services. Our goal is to provide services that compliment the varied travel experiences for our valued clients. I, as well as my guides, have a passion to share the beauty of our environment with visitors of other countries, and we continually strive to provide the best service and give 120% of ourselves.

For transports, we use vans that accommodate 14 seated passengers plus a driver and guide. For an additional fee we offer private tours that require no sharing of space or guides. Perhaps that may be a consideration for your future travel planning.

All of the services promised to you were delivered, and therefore we were unable to honor your request for a partial refund. We continue, all of us, to work very proudly as a team, devoting our efforts to our clients, and this great and friendly company. Please accept our sincere regrets.

Agree 100%! I was booked on a tour for March and cancelled 6 months ahead of time and he would not refund my deposit. He never explained the refund policy and has been difficult to work with.

Avoid this company.
