just checked our cruise personaliser noticed changes to start of cruise. We have lost overnight in Fort Lauderdale and Dominica. They are replaced by Port Canaveral and St Kitts.

Sad to loose overnight visit as we had planned meal in town but ha ho.

Just hope that this is last changes to itinereary.

Most of Dominica is still without power (a friend is helping upgrade the emergency communications infrastructure there) so that's understandable at least.

I wonder why they've changed from Fort Lauderdale. Port Canaveral has a little less to offer aside from the bus ride to Orlando attractions or Kennedy Space Center. I guess you could hope to see a satellite launch while you're there...

Earlier this year on QV we were meant to have an overnight in Fort Lauderdale too, and while we were on board they switched it to a stop in Port Canaveral and a stop in Fort Lauderdale. We had been planning to spend our time in Florida staying overnight with a friend in Miami, so what we ended up doing was renting a car in Port Canaveral and driving down to Miami. It did mean less time with our friend, but we still had the overnight in Miami, so it worked out fine in the end.

There's an interesting discussion on the roll call regarding this. One theory is that US Immigration cannot cope with the cruises in Fort Lauderdale so PC has been chosen to make immigration procedures faster. Apparently the same happened on the last South American cruise.

This is probably old news by now for those on this QV voyage, but I happened to see the following "Holiday note" on cunard.com while investigating availability for the upcoming transatlantic crossing on QV from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale.

**Important itinerary change**

We hope you are looking forward to your voyage on Queen Victoria. We have some important news regarding your itinerary. It has been brought to our attention that US Customs and Border Protection no longer permit overnight calls in Fort Lauderdale. Subsequently the call has been reduced to a single day call and we will now visit Port Canaveral on 17 January. Your revised itinerary can be seen below this notification. If you have booked any shore excursions on the affected day in Fort Lauderdale, these will be automatically cancelled and refunded to your card. We wish you a wonderful voyage.

I can't speak to the validity of this statement, but that's the explanation Cunard is providing for changing the call at Fort Lauderdale to one day.

Regards, John
