Muster drill on what day if overnight

We will be on the Zaandam in January. The cruise starts in Buenos Aires, where it stays in port overnight the first day. Will the muster drill happen on the day we board or on the second day before we leave port? Thanks for any info on this.

Thanks Bruce. That is what I assumed; but wanted to make sure. With us leaving port at 5:00 PM, I was hoping it would be the first day, which wouldn't take time away from happy hour. :D

Actually we’ve had our drill the first day if the cruise started with an overnight and then a smaller make up drill the second day for those who missed the first. Maybe it’s not consistent or depends on the country. Our two cruises that started with overnights were in Barcelona, Spain and Venice, Italy.

Must be not consistent, because the drills for our N.A. cruise from Venice and our Prinsendam cruise from Barcelona were both on the second day. :) But in the Prinsendam case we were joining a Grand Med cruise for last segment T-A, so the group for the drill was only about 30 people, and no one had a first day drill.

It really makes sense to have it on the second day - just before sailing - rather than having to have ship's company go through the exercise twice - to accommodate a few late boarders.

that's been our experience too. With the make up on the 2nd day as well for those that arrived later.

 

Looks like it is one of those things that you need to check when you get on board in view of the different reports and experiences. Suspect it is Captain's discretion (before someone says to call Seattle ;) )
