What Are You Looking Forward To The Most On The Edge?

I know that there is more to be revealed, but I am interested in what interests people the most about this new class of ship? What will you head for first when you board? What are your "must do's"?

My thoughts:

After I board using facial recognition technology (I really hope it recognizes me! :D), we will likely head to the Retreat just to drop off our bags and take a quick tour of The Retreat Lounge, pool deck and Luminae (and maybe have a quick cocktail). Maybe we should leave towels in a hanging cabana for when we return a few hours later ;). Anyway, I think the real action will be elsewhere.

I think one of the more exciting areas to visit will be Eden, where we will be greeted by an animated botanic art installation and can wander the serpentine pathway to get a feel for the place before it gets too crowded. We may need another cocktail here at the Eden Bar with garnishes from the Library of Plants tower (just for research purposes) and will need to check out the Eden café to peruse the wide variety of beverages and casual culinary bites. We will see if the Edenists are out and about yet - I'm not telling my husband anything about them - I just want to see his face when he sees the Levitating Man. :D

Once done there, I think we will make a comprehensive tour of all the restaurants and bars to do more research. Hopefully, we can peek at the Magic Carpet - maybe it will be on the pool deck so we can take in the views from the Lledge. :D The Rooftop Garden should be cool, with people singing in the trees and maybe BBQ available. Will need to check out the Sunset Bar to scope out a good sail away location (maybe the Rooftop Garden will be a better place for a sail away?).

Also looking forward to seeing our stateroom and we can see if our bed actually faces the ocean, as promised and see if the balcony is large and sunny. Will have fun playing with the smart phone activated door, temperature, lights, but will probably get into some trouble there. :D

Of course, I am looking forward to seeing the martini hot tubs, pool area art, the lovely solarium, the spa and Persian Garden, theatre (will it be round?), the casino, the xray vision areas, etc. and all the surprises there are bound to be as we get to know the ship throughout the cruise.

So what "floats your boat" about the Edge? What are you most excited to do and see?

We'll be interested in experiencing our Infinite Balcony in AQ Class, the new BLU, Solarium, Spa, Gym , Rooftop Garden and Sunset Bar areas. Hoping they are all as nice as depicted. Will also look for places where there is good music of all kinds and hoping to experience the new style theater

We'll check out the open areas in Eden but really have no interest in the restaurant, performance art, climbing bartenders/ waiters, etc. It might turn into a nice quiet indoor place during the day to read or relax with coffee or a drink as a break from outside deck areas.

A nice new, clean ship with well functioning AC and other systems will also be a positive And of course all the new technology .......

1. How many NEW restaurants will be onboard! 7 new specialty, 5 new complimently.

2. Eden. How it transitions into different venues depending on time of day will be exciting to watch.

3. My infinite veranda room. The first of its kind on any cruise ship.

4. I will not be traveling in a suite, but I’m very happy Celebrity added The Retreat for suite guests.

5. The Iconic Suite. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think a stateroom like this is on any other cruise ship. Maybe I’ll be lucky and I’ll bump into one of the two passengers that have that stateroom booked and they can give me a tour ;) I already have guests that have mentioned to me that they’d be happy to show me the Edge Villa.

8. Finding out even more surprises, as we are now less than 8 months till this beauty debuts.

I agree about Eden. I will enjoy seeing the Edenists as a new experience once and then I am hopeful they will not interfere with my enjoyment of what looks like a nice space for relaxing/reading. They can do their thing and I'll do mine.

I forgot about the smaller music venues - hope there are some new favorites for us to enjoy.

I will also be very interested in Blu - looks like a beautiful space. Hoping for new menu choices as we will likely be in AQ, if we book additional cruises on the Edge (even the least expensive suite is more than we would pay for a 7 day cruise at this point).

It's funny, but when the Edge cruises first came out, the sky suites were a decent price (doubled now) and I wanted to try the Retreat experience at least once. Now, I am less excited about the Retreat. It will be nice to experience it all, but I really think the excitement on this ship will be elsewhere. When I was thinking about what I wanted to see and do on the ship last night, it involved all the other areas of the ship.

Hopefully we will have a cabin crawl on our 12/1 cruise. I would love to see an infinite veranda stateroom, a sunset veranda, one of the staterooms with a porthole type balcony, one with the forward panoramic ocean view, an inside and all 3 types of sky suites. Seeing an Iconic Suite or Edge Villa would be icing on the cake.

I think we are on the same Edge cruise Jan 20. We signed up on the first day so got a Celebrity Suite for a very low price in the Retreat so most interested in seeing this and the entire Retreat area first. Just the whole experience of a new class of ship will be exciting. Looking forward to discovering new, as yet undisclosed things on board.

Yes, we are booked on the Jan 20th cruise as well. We are also glad we booked immediately, before the prices went up. We are going on 2 preview cruises and will not expect to have as relaxing an experience as subsequent Edge cruises, since we will be exploring and experiencing everything. I imagine our Jan 20th cruise will be a time for pampering and kicking back and spending more time enjoying the benefits of the Retreat.

I do think the ship has so many other wonderful areas to enjoy that when on future cruises, where we will likely be priced out of a suite, we will still have an amazing experience. :D

Right now, we have 3 cruises booked on Edge - I guess we think it will be great! Booked early on the S-Class and loved them. Heck, our first Celebrity cruise was on the Mercury, a month or so after she was first launched.

I‘m looking forward to what the Inifnity Balcony SR is like. The photos look fantastic. Also looking forward to trying the various included Dining. LIke the idea of special entrees on each one. I bet we fall for a special place or venue that we haven’t even thought about.

Very glad we booked early. Our 24 March cruise only has 2 Suites available, and 10 Balconies - all 10 are Aqua SRs. There are about 18 Outside SRs and 65 Inside. Overall, this cruise is 94% booked. With almost a year to go. Wow. Looked at the earlier cruises and some of them only have a few Outside/Inside SRs. Things may change after final, but I‘d not bet on many SRs opening up.

So looks like the cruises are popular. And we are jumping on them.

I'm excited about the solo cabins with infinite veranda!!

Yes other lines have solo cabins, but they are interior coffin-like places. No thank you.

They sold out fast on the cruises I was looking at so others must agree!

The MDR special starters and entrees do look good - it will be nice to have all of those choices, especially on B2Bs and longer cruises.

vtcruising,

Thanks for starting this thread. It is good to hear from people who are excited about their upcoming Edge cruises and are looking forward to a great experience. Seeing positive comments is refreshing on the CC boards. Hopefully your thread will not get hijacked by the negative nellies.

It is fun to hear from other people excited about the Edge (and have respectful discussions about what we like and don't like). Luckily on the Edge forum, there seems to be more of that than posts from those who just like to stir the pot. :D

It seems pretty positive now.

I've seen it iffy to negative - after the Eden reveal, and how long the reveal itself is taking.

But yes...I agree. This subforum does not make me want to cancel my booking and stay far away from the cruise line. I cannot always say the same for the parent forum. Though so far the Celebrity one hasn't scared me away. (I cannot say the same for a couple of other cruise lines on here...)

I agree. I am looking forward to the areas still not revealed (still curious - no library?).

I also can't wait until people actually start sharing their experiences "living on the Edge"!

I think you just found a good name for my live thread from the ship - "Living on the Edge." :D

Good one. I was considering the same title for mine, so I’ll go to one of my alternates;p

So funny! That is what is on my t shirt, but hadn’t thought if it for my live review. I can save it for you, if you want. 😃

Yep. My countdown ticker on a Disney forum is "X amount of time until I'm Living on the EDGE".

I have a few other options... Though titles are not copyrightable, so...

I’m glad I’m not the only one obsessing about the Edge and researching Edge sayings. I almost feel normal when talking to people here. 😉

I'm excited AND nervous. I am normally a Disney Cruise girl with occasional forays into RCCL Radiance Class, so this is a big leap for me! New to me line AND new ship!!

(Mainly why I am sticking with my known Hilton brand for my pre-cruise couple of nights. Keep something familiar!)

Just have to wait until Feb 17!!

This will be quite new for all of us. Yes, there will be some familiar things, but a whole new lay out , 4 MDRs, all new specialties, a Magic Carpet, a suite Retreat. We all will be wandering around looking for things and trying out entirely new venues and concepts. We will all be in the same boat, so to speak.[emoji2]. Hopefully your leap to the Edge will be turn out to be a wonderful experience!

I hope so!! I've already scheduled my dining - 2 nights in Cyprus, 2 nights in Cosmopolitan, 1 night in Tuscan...and 1 night at the steak place and 1 night in Eden. For the MDRs I contemplated making a reservation each night for the same one because I'm gluten-free and feel more comfortable with the same servers - which at least on RCCL I've been able to do with their MTD by booking at the same time each night - but I don't know that I'm enamored with any of them enough to do all 5 non-specialty nights in them. So we'll see...

Is there a charge for this adult only solarium. We are staying in AQ room- is this included or is it only the suites?? Or can any adult use the solarium??
