Any of the major US Hotel Chains in san Juan will have Accessible Rooms. Best to just go on line to wheck what hotels have accessible rooms available for your dates and which location, hotel amenities as well as rates but suits your needs.

We often add up to a week before a cruise just to stay at the Renaissance LaConcha Hotel and Casino. The casino is well off the lobby so children are not a problem. The rooms are mainly 2 room suites with very accessible roll in shower and roll under sinks. Private bedroom but without door and on the other side of the bathroom towards the hall door is a living space with at least one pull out sofa and chair, plug ins for tech chargers, a small refrigerator and microwave and sink. Several restaurants connected to the property and a pool plus beach in the back but with under tow so more for sun. Take earplugs if staying over a weekend in holiday because even 9 stories up neighborhoods get noisy in San Juan until 3am. This may be less of a problem since the hurricanes. The area is nice and safe with many indoor/outdoor restaurants and bars, higher end shopping and a park a block away. There is also a Marriott two blocks further down. We checked it out but didn't stay. Most cruises that stop in San Juan port in Old Town so you may want to look closer if you are one of the few that embark there. Most who begin and end leave from the Pan American and there are no close hotels so any international will work and possible a few smaller family hotels but those would be further out. I hope any new sidewalks or roads have more regular curb cuts but they are there just not always at the corners. People do look for you though.

I just stayed at this hotel last weekend. I agree that it’s a good location with many restaurants and shops nearby. I had dinner at Ropa Vieja just a few minutes walking distance (wonderful). The hotel is nicely and tastefully appointed and its very lively.

But it’s loud. The soundproof glass door between the bathroom area and the bedroom area should’ve been a giveaway. With that door open, you can hear EVERY noise from the street since rooms are accessed from an open air hallway. Even being up on the 7th floor we could hear traffic, music and people by the pool on that side of the property. Opening the balcony door facing the ocean provided the wonderful sounds of the ocean surf but you could hear the noise from the very lively crowd down at the oceanfront bar and pool area. Once again, wonderful hotel but be warned about the noise issues.

About the beach, be extremely careful! As mentioned above, there’s a lot of undertow, and some huge waves. But what makes this beach very dangerous is the fact that there are tons of underwater boulders. I went in the water just for a quick dip and wasn’t even knee dip when a wave crashed on me, slamming me on the rocks. Had I been riding the waves like some people and wiped out, I probably would not be here writing this! 3dd5197f43afbe46d724aff2d400c3eb.jpgcd036cdf089573bab56b2a4c45f868c2.jpg

I didn't realize about the boulders just the under tow. We have stayed there many times and a great deal of the noise is from outside the hotel. But at 3am it stops completely. Any sporting goods store should have sponge ear plugs for occasional hunters and they are cheap and comfortable. I believe the restaurant you mention we ate at on our last trip. It was great and such a nice setting. We do reserve a night before if we have long flights because of the late check in time.

The little inlet to the left isn’t bad because it’s protected and it’s sandy, but to the right, east of the big shell and across from the infinity pool, is pretty bad. I set camp there first because it looked more peaceful, but as soon as I went in the water I realized why it wasn’t crowded. So I moved my things over to the more crowded inlet and it was much more manageable, and no big boulders!
