Deck 6 cabins on Discovery 2

Recommended Posts

we are currently on Discovery 2 in balcony cabin 6588

DO NOT BOOK THIS CABIN

We are doing the 25 day cruise from Montego Bay to Palma The first week is the last week of the winter cruising season and guests were in the cabin we wanted near the coffee port and although it was free for the 18 day cruise they would not let us change cabins after the first week

We were late leaving Montego Bay supposedly due to a stern thruster problem and the boat had to go full steam ahead to get us to Grand Cayman which resulted in the most terrible vibration of the floor and bed in our cabin - although doors etc didn't rattle at all

The next three nights no problem then last night after we had left Havana late and had to make up the time to get to Cozumel today the same thing happened, only worse, I couldn't sleep at all it was like being sat on a washing machine fast spin cycle ( no comments please lol) Hubby went up and down the corridor and it was only affecting a couple of cabins either side of us and also the similar cabins on port side.

Reception said they were aware of the problem occurring when ship was going fast - and offered to let me sleep in a cabin on deck 2!!!

Should add that the delay in Havana due to late passengers and for the first time on any cruise we've been on they were left behind - probably cos they had their passports with them!!!

Thanks Pensioncruiser

It was actually after the overnight in Havana and we were supposed to leave at midday but didn't leave til 1 and an MSC ship coming in had to wait for us to leave so they wouldn't have been too happy

We had been warned that the consulate was closed Saturday so don't know what they did - they could have flown to Cozumel to join us today or back to Jamaica to get their flight home on Tuesday - not easy though

The passengers left at Havana would have had their passports with them as they were needed to go ashore in Cuba. The ship also packed their cases and put them ashore just before the ship departed (I watched them being taken up the gang plank).

A discussion on facebook suggests that they subsequently got a flight to Jamaica (where the cruise was to end)
