Pacific Aria from Brisbane

Recommended Posts

Hi, we are considering sailing on Pacific Aria leaving Brisbane on 8th June for 9 nights visiting Hamilton Island, Townsville and overnight in Cairns. Does anyone know whether the casino will be operating as we will be in Australian waters? Also is flying out of Brisbane on a 10.00am domestic flight doable? Would there be one or two performances in the theatre each night, and what times would they be? Would really appreciate any information on the Pacific Aria we haven’t cruised with P & O before. Thanks so much.

We did this cruise last Sept. and posted a post cruise report. I'll recap the main details.

Book all your dining arrangements as soon as you get on board and don't leave it until the next day or you might miss out and end up eating in The Pantry.

The evening entertainment was of reasonable quality and usually two shows. P&O did not seem to want to spend much on 'guest entertainers', but the singer dancers worked hard. There is only a couple of sea days and daytime entertainment we thought was poor. This will depend a lot on the 'cruise staff' so will depend on who is running this and the staff they have.

Disembarking was quick and there were plenty of taxis so a 10am. flight would be doable as long as the ship gets in on time and if you want to take the risk.

Please be aware that Aria have mainly baths not showers in the cabins, so if you have mobility issues you may want to check for disabled cabins. We have been on Her several times and have to be careful getting out of the bath, more so than getting in.

She also has a small theatre for movies. I think the casino is open on coastal cruises.

The Aria is a lovely ship. The casino will be operating (and if you are into casinos, the Cairns casino is very good). A 10am flight out of Brisbane is doable - either ask to disembark early or do 'carry-off' where you can leave whenever you want (you just need to be prepared to carry all of your own stuff off). Performances in the evening - there are often two performances (early and late) and I found them very enjoyable.

Enjoy!
