Cabin booking?

Recommended Posts

Everyone receives a cabin numbered label at the airport if you haven't reserved a cabin that will be the first time you know your cabin it will be the grade you have booked and you will not see your cases again until you are in your cabin. Suggest you take some light cloths in hand luggage for arrival, but you may already know that, have a good one. I assume you have booked your flight seat's.

Yes, we booked at the TUI shop and had to ask them to match the online price.

Extra legroom was an additional cost but with that, we were able to choose our seats there and then.

Thanks for the cabin info. Anyone know what the Explorer is like?

Explorer is lovely, what Cabin grade have you booked?

Some cabin grades you might need to pay the £48 to pick a better one, but some it is pointless to pick, i.e. The Executive Suites, there are only 10 of them and they are all together on the same deck and all excellent so anyone of those is great.

Have booked inside deck3/4, we like low down and preferably more in the middle. We like it very dark for sleeping.

Only done 7 cruises up to now.

So with 7 under your belt, you know what you are doing and what works for you.

Now on the explorer, there is no deck 3 so maybe you have a deck4/5 inside.

I would pay the £48 and pick deck 4 for your needs. The insides on deck 5 are right behind the reception desk and close to the atrium and are aft, no midships inside on deck 5.

On deck 4 there are only 10/12 midship insides, there are also 27 aft and 12 forward. So potluck to no luck on you getting a midship without requesting.

Thanks for the deck info, checked my booking info yes it is deck 4/5, we will discuss and possibly book a cabin number. Will look at the deck plans.

Just done our insurance on a well known money comparison website. Cost was £138, 2 minor medical conditions each.

By comparison, also done one for a 2 week holiday we have also booked for Lanzerote the following month, cost was £38.

We don't pick the cheapest but one that covers for enough cancellation.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in:We've booked a junior suite on Explorer......are we better on deck 10 or deck 12?

On our last cruise on Celebration the person in the next cabin was smoking on the balcony. Are some balcony cabins allocated to smokers? It wasn't very pleasant sitting reading my book with cigarette smoke wafting over but I think I read somewhere that so many cabins (balcony?)were for smokers.

Thanks again.

Deck 10 midships would be my preference, but all good on either deck.

There is NO SMOKING on balconies, only designated areas on open deck. All Marella ships are non smoking inside and have these areas outside for the smokers to use. So if you get a smoker on the balcony, report them and they will be thrown from the ship immediately.

Some see e-cigs as smoking yet they are permitted in the casinos and adjoining bar areas

My understanding is, would you blow it into a babies face? NO, then don't blow it into mine.

All ships inside spaces should be no smoking and have the odd space outside for them, not balconies. Or a cigar room.

Some cruiselines were trialling no smoking casinos to see if more, less or the same revenue/footfall.

And it all depends on the cruise destination and passengers. But most of the time it was the same or slightly higher.

So we might see no smoking casinos in the near future.

Been away a while. See the thread got Hijacked. Does anyone know if you can upgrade your cabin online. Want to surprise the wife Oh and if I spotted anyone smoking I would report them, would they get kicked off....hope so.

No - you have to ring. The service is pretty good. I had a shortlist of preferred cabins (obviously within the category booked) got through after about five minutes and managed to get the second of my choices. They just add the up charge to your final bill. You also get a choice at this point of twin or queen size bed configuration.

Have you managed to upgrade yet and if so, what cabin did you get?

Not yet, Need to check out deck plans. If I leave it up to Marella, will they simply give me what,s left?

Well they can't give you what's been taken.

But do you want the Cabin that no one else wanted to pay £48 for?

On our Pando cruises, we have booked saver fares, allocated cabin usually couple of weeks before cruise. Never been disappointed.

Hi Yes you are correct you can on Marella book cabins up to two weeks prior to your cruise.

You have to be very careful when choosing a particular cabin as Marella can and have in the past moved passengers out of their chosen cabin its all in the A-Z info.

The problem is they give two prices for some cabins either as a 1-2 or 1-4 some passengers are not aware that if you book the 1-4, as sometimes is cheaper, they can move you if a four party ask for that cabin and you only find out at the airport, totally wrong I know but it does happen. I have just carried out a dummy booking for the Caribbean next year in a JS and the system is allowing you to book the cheaper 1-4 cabin for a couple which you may get away with or not.

Good luck

I also think it makes a difference if you are cruising for 1 week or two. If you book a particular cabin for 2 weeks you should be OK subject to multiple occupancy as described by Pensioncruiser. If you book a cabin for one week you may be moved if subsequently someone books a 2 week cruise starting the week before yours. Apparently they try their upmost to avoid cruisers having to move a cabin in the middle of their cruise so if your cabin is the only one that allows the other party to avoid moving that is what happens
