We are traveling with friends who are in the Veranda category. They can't get into their room prior to 3:00. Can they board earlier? Have lunch? Make dining reservations?

Thanks!

Yes. That's all I've had. Anyone can board at 11:00. Full access to lunch, dining reservations and ship exploring. Cabin might be ready early but definitely by 3:00

As said, your friends can board at the same time as everyone else. Regarding dining reservations though. It's been our experience that on boarding day the reception desks for the speciality restaurants aren't manned until closer to dinner time, making it difficult to reserve in person. When they have access to their cabin they can of course look at reservations on their TV screen. Two years ago we had a guarantee cabin and had no ability to reserve for the restaurants ahead of time but it turned out not to be a problem. It's easy enough to do on board (just not on boarding day afternoon ;) ).

Also, there is now an app for your phone that works on board only (I believe) that you can use to do this and there is a reservation desk in the World Cafe that should be open well before there is anyone manning the desk on Deck 1, outside the restaurants.

Also, while the stated time to have all of the cabins available is 3pm, the housekeeping staff prides itself on getting this job done by 2pm. Check your cabin when you board. It may well be ready for occupancy when you get there.

This is true but at the World Cafe on the port side entrance there is a counter as you enter that is capable of showing you the menus and make reservations for you at that time. It is open during breakfast and lunch serving time and I understand you can also make them through the TV in your room but I, personally, have not done that. At that desk in the World Cafe they can probably make sure that your reservations are also coordinated so you can dine together.

We just disembarked a Viking cruise on June 26. We booked the lowest category and were able to have access to our cabin by 2:00. The reservations desk was open when we boarded before noon.
