We are doing this cruise. It says on the cruise itinerary that our dock for Tokyo is Yokohama. In response to one of my posts on the cruise roll call, someone posted this - "I understand that Azamara will doc at Harumi Terminal in Tokyo not in Yokohama. As a smaller ship it can pass under the Rainbow Bridge" I just checked on the Azamara WEB site and it still says that we dock at Yokohama.

Have you guys changed the embarkation port or did the person on the roll call get it wrong. We need to know where we leeave from.

I have learned that our Itinerary Department is finalizing the docks for all our cruises of Japan 2019. They expect to communicate with booked guests later in October, as well as will update our web information.

Please check back with me in 30-days if you’ve not been contacted.

So are you saying that you could change other port locations? What do I do about the private tours that I have set up? I am not happy with the uncertainty.

DON

No, just the Tokyo/Yokohama dock location 2019.

Sorry if I gave you a start. I should have been clearer!

I think that I have figured it out. We depart from Yokohama and we return to Tokyo. If that is true, will I be the only person on the cruise to make the mistake that I did?

DON

We had an email from our Travel Agent some time ago saying the departure had changed to Yokohama.

Thanks for your response.

Actually having the April 27 cruise depart from Yokohama and the May 12 cruise depart from Tokyo makes it easier to plan tours.

One other question. A lot of the ports have no tours listed at all on your WEB site. On the April 27 cruise, we have 12 ports and only 6 of them have tours listed. On the May 12 cruise, we have 6 ports and only 3 have any tours listed. This is not typical for Azamara.

I have some OBC to use. Are you planning to add tours or is what I see what I have an unsatisfactory selection to choose from?

Hi DON,

I'm sure there will be more tours on offer. Since we are 6+ months from departure, check back closer-in. If still no tours, I'll help you out by inquiring.

This is a follow up to my question about where we dock at the end of our April 27 15 Night Circle Japan cruise. I think that I know the answer but since I have already made one dumb mistake on my cruise information, I want to make sure that I am not making a 2nd one.

The cruise itinerary says that we arrive in Tokyo at 8:00 AM on 11 May. The itinerary also says that the cruise ends on 12 May but no time is given on that date. I assume that this means that we

a) arrive on 11 May as listed;

b) we stay on the ship and explore Tokyo on 11 May;

c) we sleep on the ship the night of 11 May, and

d) we disembark in the morning of 12 May.

We are doing this cruise as a B2B with the next cruise which is listed as departing Tokyo at 6:00 PM on 12 May. If we want to spend a full day in Tokyo on 12 May, what time do we have to be back to the ship on 12 May. Normally one would have to check in and be on board 2 - 3 hours before the ship leaves which means that we would a good part of our 12 May day in Tokyo. So I am asking what the latest that we have to be back on the ship on 12 May. On a normal port day, you usually have to be on board 1/2 hour before the ship leaves. However, since this is an embarkation day, do those of us who are doing a B2B have to be on board earlier.

I have never done a B2B so I am a bit confused.

Hi Don,

as a B2B guest I recommend you discuss this with ship personnel once aboard. In *most* cases you can go off to tour, and board closer to departure time, BUT you will still have to attend a lifeboat drill. You'll have to arrange to attend one of the 'make up' drills scheduled if you miss the regularly scheduled lifeboat drill.

I say *most* because I believe there are a few locations that are more restrictive.

My problem is that I am planning to book tours for 12 May and I need more definite information. Makes a bit of difference as to whether I have to be back on board at 3:00 PM or 5:00 PM. I have no problem with doing a makeup lifeboat drill.

Is there anyone at Azamara that I can contact to get a more definitive answer.

I'm surprised you don't remember the drill, Don. You were on the same B2B as myself in Feb.-March of this year, New Zealand to Singapore (perhaps you continued onboard after Singapore)?

I recollect you were also in the lounge while we were checked out and then checked in, photographed and given our keycard. Do you remember when all the B2B'ers gathered for instructions and our "escorted tour" with Journey's concierge off the ship? We had the option to then turn around and re-board immediately, or continue on foot into Sydney.

That was not me. This is the first B2B that I have done.

You can leave the ship as early as you want. I am sure you will get your new room key the night before, you leave the ship using your old card. You come back and use your new one. You will get your picture taken again.

As far as drill goes Inam guess it at 430 if you sail,at 6. I have been to make ups and it was for a late sailing.. thrybare shorter. Mostly at 9 at night. But withna six sailing that would or could be earlier

DON, as ellbon says there will be a make-up drill for the 12th May departure for those like you who will be out on tour that day so I’d aim to be back to the ship by 5pm. I’m not sure what time you aim to be off on the morning of the 12th, but just check out (the ship need a zero count for turnaround day) and check back in using your new card. Speak to Guest Relations at some point during the first cruise and they’ll clue you in on the best way to handle it.

Bottom line is you’ll be able to go on your tour and get back to the ship at a time that gives you a chance to see the place. I’ve done b2bs a number of times and it’s very straightforward. There are a couple of locations where it’s a bit more restrictive, but Japan isn’t one of them.

Bonnie,

We are on the Aug 7 cruise from AK to Tokyo and as I am fairly new to Azamara (only other time was 2008), I can’t find information on the port that we arrive in on the website.  You said we would hear by the end of October whether it would be Yokohama or Harumi.  Are there any updates yet?

Bonnie: I am really confused about this response. I've checked multiple sites and each indicate that the Quest will sail from the Osanbashi Pier in Yokohama on 4/27/19 but according to Azamara's website it will overnight in Tokyo on 5/11/19, and sail the next day from Tokyo. For those on either sailing, including those of us doing a B2B it is critically important  to have the correct port information and locations in order to reserve local hotels and DIY shore excursions. The Azamara website does not list Tokyo, or Yokohama as embarkation ports further adding to the confusion. I have email's Azamaracustomerservice multiple times and they promised an answer by the end of October. Can you definitely find out the correct cities and terminal locations for us ? Thanks.

Hi BillC,

I am assured that what I’ve posted above is correct.
