I know the answer is "because they can " but I would be more than unhappy if I had booked this on website.

Seems OK to me. If you look at the Azamara website a Verandah cabin is currently cheaper than an inside - the current price is £2708 for a Verandah cabin. That allows £830 for 2 nights in a hotel in Nice plus flights & transfers. Hotel costs will be cheap as TAs can get very good rates on hotels. Don’t forget TAs don’t pay the same for a cruise as you do when booking through the web-site, so that’s where they get their commission from and where they can take a discount from (My daughter is a self-employed TA. I book through Azamara & transfer my booking to her. I pay the same, but she gets a nice commission from Azamara).
