Thanks so much for the suite photo - it does look neat. Not sure what to say about your low carb diet. It would be difficult for me because I like everything that you can't eat. Someone needs to develop a diet where you eat nothing except carbs!................

Travelcat2, You're in luck. How about a diet the is nothing but potatoes, beans, rice pasta and bread (and vegetables and fruit)? Yes, it is true. And you lose weight like crazy. It called whole food, plant based eating. There are lot of books about. The most famous was Nathan Pritikin about 40 years ago. It is the same plan as recommended by the famous heart disease doctors,

and
Probably the most current book is the "Starch Solution" by
. and "How Not to Die" by
And Regent has a "request" menu that follows these food guidelines. All of the Executive Chefs will eagerly accommodate and will not think that you speak Klingon :).

Thanks so much! Will check it out. It would work great on Regent...... bagel for breakfast, pasta for lunch ....... not sure about dinner but I could find something. Now I have to figure out what drinks contain carbs:evilsmile:

I just had my fifth low carb drink with a little bit of lunch consisting of a salad. My carb intake will be some wine during tonight’s block party.

A quick shout or to my best friend Max who just signed up to cruise critic so he can follow this thread. Pls welcome my bro. He is a little self conscious because his waist size is equator.

I am following, with fascination, all the news about the refurbished Mariner, for our first Regent cruise May 23. Thank you, everyone, for your great input, experience and humor! If Captain Serena mentioned that the named suites didn’t receive much of a refurbishment, will the Mariner suite, 1010, still look as lovely as I hope it will be?

REALLY wish we could meet you guys as you sound like so much fun! Love giving Z a hard time:halo:

Right back at you!! 😻 How about hopping on our May 6, 10 day Alaska, on Mariner out of San Fran? There are still a number of open suites!

Come on, say yes!!

Wish that we could. We're doing a special thing on NCL out of Seattle next month and have done too many Alaska cruises since we live so close to Vancouver. I still have hopes that we will meet. Wish that we were on the same Splendor cruise in 2020! :tropical-drink::wine-glass:

Thanks Z for the nice introduction.

I appreciate the warm welcome. I am new to this site and in all honesty, haven’t been on a cruise in 26 years. This will all change when my youngest finishes college in a couple of years. In the meantime, I am following this thread to live vicariously through you all.

Lastly, Z and I have been friends for 39 years, and TB and my wife were roommates in college. He is the brother I never had. Wishing you all a happy and enjoyable cruise.

Good Morning!! There is definitely a lot of love on this thread!! Max and I could write a book on the antics we’ve pulled in Korea, the Philippines, and stateside starting as two young idiots at The Citadel. We used to sit on the roof of my house outside Clark Airbase to watch the fighter jets land and haul up a cooler on a rope full of Mekong whiskey and coke. Poor pregnant Pam would have to refill the cooler with ice whenever we would throw it down. I need all my Regent buds to pressure Max and his lovely wife Peg into booking a Regent cruise. It will be epic.

Yesterday was a lazy day. It was very blustery and cool. My debut as an Olympic swimmer was cancelled because the pool was closed. Instead, The Boss earned a gold medal in nap-taking. She broke her own three hour record by sleeping 3.5000 hours. I went to the pool bar and spent the time talking to my new friend, Frank, and having a few Tito’s.

We had our block party last night followed by another great meal. Service has been exceptional. Unfortunately, the sleep monster hit us hard again so no show for us.

Today is our first port day and we will be taking a walking tour of Cartagena, Colombia. I’ve spent a lot of time in Colombia back in my GI days and look forward to having an aguardiente (licorice flavored fire water). Tonight we are eating in Prime 7 where Pam will trot to eat up all the lobsters in one sitting.

BTW, I usually write in the mornings while I have a cup of coffee at the Coffee Connection which has been totally redone.

Gotta go and do my laps. Max say hi to Peg and the boys from us.

Greetings again Max! Wow you kids have been friends forever, cool!

Would love to cruise with you. Maybe you could attempt to keep Z in line!?!? ;)

Z love the pics! How about more food porn? I know you are dieting but come on........🥂🥂

Tell Pam my mouth is watering for those tails tonight. Enjoy!

Have fun on your tour.

Bull, great to hear from you and hope you enjoy our thread. Keith (Bull) is another one of my classmates and he can confirm that I am more handsome than Max.

We’ve just docked in Cartagena and it is damn hot. Of course, we picked a walking tour that leaves at 2230 and will catch the hottest part of the day. The Boss is outside by the grill getting some buffalo wings while I sit in the coolness of La Veranda sipping on some Riesling. Life is good.

Z, do you remember the brand of Riesling that you were drinking? Dennis loves Riesling and they ran out on Voyager - they only had one brand.

Love the photos - enjoy your hot walk!

Whaaaatt? Z you are drinking Riesling? ( I like it too) In the heat though a nice Tito’s & tonic sounds good to me. Anything cool! 🍹

I hate the heat! ( Jackie, do I recall correctly you do too? ) Hope we don’t regret the Panama 2/25/20 on Splendor. It’s winter so maybe the heat won’t be too intense 🤞🏻

Looking forward to your tour report & of course dinner pics Z ! 😻

Enjoy, K
