Now that I hopefully have your attention...

Will I be able to find sorbet either complementary or for purchase on the Bliss???

I have a rare/severe allergy to cream so a great deal of the time I get to sit there and watch everyone else enjoy all sorts of delicious looking foods. When I cruise on princess they offer a different sorbet in the MDR every night so I get to have dessert with everyone else. I hope there is something yummy for me too on my first ever NCL cruise. Thank you!

All the sorbets were good. They usually have two sorbet flavors each day at the buffet. My favorite was coconut and pineapple day.

You can get it in the specialty restaurants. Well, I got it in one, but they also wrapped up dessert to go for me cuz we had to leave early due to sick kid.

I'm sorry you had a sick child. That's a bummer.

Sorbet in the buffet would be wonderful! Was it available at all times? I can't tell you how many times Ive had to sit there and watch my family & friends eat ice cream... So sad hahaha.

I would notify the Access Desk of your food allergy. This is NOT a link just the address: AccessDesk@ncl.com Give them: your name, date of sailing, cabin number and reservation number with your allergy information.

I am a diabetic and have to be very careful. The Access Officer on board and the Restaurant Manager are very helpful.

Enjoy your cruise.

Buffet had it lunch and dinner at least. I'm pretty lactose intolerant.

I bet you are happy there's sorbet then, I know a lot of people have problems with intolerance. Unfortunately, I have a rare allergy called FPIES and my allergy is to all types of cream. This allergy causes symptoms that resemble Norovirus and it lasts for hours and hours. I have to carry a letter from the specialist so they do not mistake what is happening to me with Norovirus. It's considered a medical emergency and it can really ruin a great day, lol.

My worry would be cross contamination from any self serve environment. I would recommend informing proper persons prior to sailing, and take your treat in an agreed upon restaurant where dispensing practices will be safe from cross contamination.

With a severe allergy like this, I would definitely contact the access desk. NCL takes allergies very seriously and they will work to get you food that is guaranteed safe for you.

I can tell you that if you let your waiter in the specialty restaurants know about your allergy they can get items for you that are off menu. So if there is sorbet on the ship, they should be able to get you an order. Second letting special needs know and definitely tell your waiter when you eat so they can help make sure you don’t accidentally order something that you can’t eat.

Yikes. Yeah, mine is just the plain jane intolerance. Cream affects me the most too, though. The more processed it is (like cheese), the less it affects me.

Anyways, the sorbet on the Bliss was honestly the best sorbet I've had on any cruise line. It was wonderful. Two flavors (rather than the more typical one flavor) and they have syrup and stuff on the side. Cones too. The main dining rooms list them for dessert too.

Norwegian had the best sorbets and potatoes. We had 3 different fries one meal, and they were all cooked perfectly. I was quite impressed at how every potato item was cooked perfectly, and the rice too. That said, I never had a red meat product that came out well, except for one of the prime rib meals (the first one, the advertised one, was awful). It either came out still mooing (generally ordered medium or medium well) or was leather (when ordered medium rare).

Yes, NCL is very serious about allergies. My teenage DD is allergic to eggs and dairy. She can consume small quantities when it is baked at a high temperature (friend chicken finger, pancakes, cake, etc) but not cheese or cream based. We told the dining staff in savor of her allergy and it took them an extra 30 minutes to find something for her lunch. She was furious (Hangry teen is terrifying!🤬) she ended up with a piece of meat on a plate- nothing else. I was touched, her sister, MIL and DH totally entertained. She went and ate a burger at the buffet.

Yes, they take food allergies very serious and have sorbet. However, be very cautious at the bar with the cross contamination, the blenders and shakers are rinsed but not washed.

So,,,, as posted, contact the access desk at least 45 days prior to cruise.

Once onboard, meet with the restaurants you intend to dine at 24 hours or more in advance. They will ensure that creams are not used in any food preparations. If they see that there is a severe food allergy in your record and they can not gaurantee your safety, they could refuse service since they rather you go hungry than potentially cause a life threatening allergic reaction. NCL takes food allergies very seriously.

We just got back from the Sun. Every single meal we ate in any restaurant was started with the waiter asking each individual if they had any allergies, every single time. They definitely take things seriously and will go above and beyond to make sure the guest is able to enjoy a safe meal.

Thank you. Great suggestion. I informed my NCL senior Cruise consultant and an email was sent. I think I will follow your suggestion and request sorbet while we are at specialty dining and not in the MDR where the possibility of cross-contamination is probably higher.

Thank you. It's so nice to know that they will do that for me. I will definitely talk to my waiters every time we dine.

Thank you so much. These reminders for the servers are great. I've never even thought to notify the restaurants in advance and I normally wait until I arrive. So thank you because I will now follow your advice.
