Quebec City Oct 11-13, 2018??

I am in the process of booking a hotel room for Quebec City from Oct. 11-13 and noticed that the downtown area hotel rates almost doubled over the past 2 days (at two different location). Any idea why this would be?

Thanksgiving Monday is actually Oct 8th so Oct 11th to Oct 13th should not be tied to Thanksgiving. Maybe there is something else on that is causing the rates to be higher. We are actually staying on the Wed and Thur night prior to Thanksgiving weekend and our rates were no different.

A lot of people use the long weekend to save a day on vacation time. In other words, they get a week's vacation with using only 4 vacation days.

I really doubt Thanksgiving could account for this. I did a cursory look at events online, and didn't see anything. Maybe it's a convention or something.
