Person To Person Tour/Excursion Requirements If Visiting 2 Ports

We will be visiting Havana and Cienfuegos on the Veendam soon.

We booked ship excursions for both ports, but are we required to? If we do an excursion that meets the requirements in one port, are we free to do our own thing in the other?

If we only have to do one tour that meets the requirements, does it have to be the first port or could it be the second?

I never got a straight answer when I asked your same question. I think you do have to do an excursion at both stops, but then maybe, maybe not. I think no one knows for sure. The answer I did get was if you booked your cruise after a certain date (June of 2017 I think) you had to do ships excursions. But then several people said that if you put helping the Cuban people on your travel affidavit and kept records of what you did you would be okay. Since this was my first time in Cuba I was more comfortable doing ship excursions. But now that I am more familiar with the area I would be okay doing my own thing.

Which excursions did you sign up for? Are you planning anything for the evening? We did the Parisienne Cabaret which we enjoyed and others did the Tropicana but the fact is, Old Havana is right across the street from the terminal, an easy walk. There are lots of restaurants/bars and I understand many have music. I think it would be a fun way to spend the evening.

The tour we wanted to book for Havana was waitlisted so we booked Modern Havana and American Classic Cars. For Cienfuegos we booked Trinidad: Museum of the Caribbean thinking it sounded like our excursion to Antigua, Guatemala last year on our Panama Canal cruise.

We did not book anything for the evening because full day tours tend to be tiring, but we could get off the ship and walk around a bit as you suggested.
