Input on Dawn FS/balcony 12020

We have been in those suites 3 times and never had an issue with the elevators. We have been woken a few times at 6 am as they move lounge chairs around on deck 13. Also no cover over the balcony so you won't have complete privacy and if it rains, balcony can't be used. That being said, I'd book one of those rooms again in a minute.

this sounds silly but 2 of us think we were 12--- and the other 2 think we were 11--- and in the front of the boat. the first room by the elevator...the 2 bedroom suite...and the noise was not a big deal at all we heard nothing. it was as if we were the only ones on the floor. we barely ever saw anyone

Thanks all - appreciate the info about Deck 13 above along with the fact there is no cover on the deck - think we will be ok with that, the deck looks huge - we like to have lounge chairs to chill out on the deck. Sounds like perhaps the noise won't be an issue - was kind of concerned about that being on the pool deck - well if it is still available tomorrow I will book it via an upgrade from MA mini suite on deck 11 - cabin 11100 which is also near the elevator - decisions....decisions...LOL

We stayed in one of those suites in deck 12 as well. I would also book again in a heartbeat. The balcony had 2 loungers, 2 regular chairs and a small table. We never had an issue with noise..I actually really liked laying out in the deck and you could hear music playing from the pool area..not too loud. It was perfect. We were actually crazy enough to share this suite with my in laws...even with that fact...i'd do it again!

Awesome thanks for the info - good to know there are loungers out on the balcony & you enjoyed the suite, maybe I will book it, of course now an aft facing balcony on deck 8 or 10 came open - it has a large balcony but my hubby says he doesn't want an aft cabin - we have never stayed in one so not sure what do to ....fun fun!

Remember that with the suite you get extra perks. If you decide to go with the aft balcony, Go with the 10th deck. Very quiet. The aft on deck 8 is above a club and from what I've read, is VERY noisy until 1-2 in the morning.

Con = Do be aware that deck 12 ( high and forward ) feels The Most motion on the ship.

Thanks all, appreciate the input, has anyone ever stayed in an AFT balcony? We have not, so not really sure what to expect, we generally prefer mid ship, we are currently booked in an MA Mini Suite CAbin 1100, I know we won't get suite benefits in an MS - still about 20 some days before we get on board & still thinking what to do....

Very Cool THANK you for the video, the balcony & the wall of windows looks awesome, just trying to decide if being on the pool deck and by the elevator will be too noisy- some people say yes other say no - guess it just depends on the cruise I guess. It looks twice the size of our MA mid ship mini suite 11100 - still working thru this one or an aft cabin on deck 9 or 10. Thanks again!

2016 B2B New England/Canada suite 12522 next door cabin to 12520.

You will appreciate being next to the elevators and stairs - no noise problems - easy access to most

everywhere on the ship.

5 decks down (7) entrance to theatre and Concierge reserved seating

1 more deck (6) Casino and access to Le Bistro and La Cacina restaurants

1 deck up (13) for outstanding viewing and the walking jogging track

Far enough forward not much adverse noise - sailing into the wind if the balcony door is not closed completely

potential for whistling noise - beware if the cabin door is open and the balcony at the same time there is a real

wind tunnel effect blowing thing around

Balcony is full width of the cabin (double wide) - no cover so rain & wind limits use.

Can be viewed from above deck 13 walkway - has room for -4- lounge chairs.

Room for 5 - King bed (2) - fold out couch (2 suggested for children small folks) and the Murphy bed (1)

Your concern about the 2 bedroom suite on deck 11 - the 2 bedroom suite has two rooms - the bedroom bath

portion and the convertible living room into a 2nd bedroom --- the suites on deck 12 the entire room is open

but the king bed portion can be partitioned with the fold out wall panels - in any event with either of the suites

some of the tables chairs and furniture must be moved to deploy the beds --- not to worry the cabin steward

does all the work --- you can fine tune it and the steward will take it from thereafter each night.

The advantage of the 2 bedroom suite on deck 11 is the semi privacy of the primary bedroom - you don't have

this with the deck 12 suites although the deck 12 suites do have a foyer with closets to act as a dressing chamber.

Nice to have double sinks and shower bath facilities two can use the bathroom at a time.

We have stayed in both aft deck 10 cabins. Cabin is standard balcony room size but the actual balcony is very large. Very quiet being at the end of the hall. Sound of the ocean behind the ship is relaxing. Convenient to the main dining room.

Con - Can be a hike to get to pool, buffet and theatre.

We were in 12518 on the Star ..... no noise problems. As mentioned earlier we loved the family suite and loved the location.

Don't know if you've stayed in a suite. For us the "best" perk is having the availability of a special dining area for breakfast and/or lunch .... and our favorite is breakfast. On the Dawn the area is Moderno across the hall from Cagneys where it used to be served. See the link below for youtube video for Norwegian Pearl (very similar to Dawn) that shows the location and the buffet offerings. Video doesn't show the menu but a google search will bring it up for you. We go to the check in desk, show our room card and are escorted into the restaurant. Once seated a waiter brings a menu and asks if we'd like coffee. We order and then head to the buffet area for our favorite starters. It is such a relaxing start to the day and is the thing we miss most when not in a suite.

Here is a link to cruise deck plans drag it decks page for Norwegian Dawn. Line up the decks using the stairs and elevators to see what is above and below the stateroom you are interested in.

Does anybody know how many outlets there are in a SD Family Suite like 12520 or 12020 on the Dawn? We sailed in the 2 BR Family Suite on the Dawn last year, and one of the only downfalls is that there was ONE outlet in the whole room. Luckily our butler brought us an extension cord that also had a second set of holes...

Take along a triplex plug to plug in that one outlet giving you 3 outlets.

You also could take a NON-SURGE power strip but as of recent there has been

some conflicting confiscation of these items.

Ebay LINK to varieties of triplex electrical plugs:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=triplex+electrical+plug&_sacat=0

For additional plugs look behind the flat screen TV !

I was in the cabin next door 12522 in 2016 and I thought that there were three outlets 2 @ 120V and 1 @ 220V

The coffee machine I believe operates on 220V.

The outlets in the bath are strictly low amperage - electric shaver toothbrush cell phone charging BUT definitely

NOT hair dryer curling iron etc. which are no-nos anyway. Hair dryer is provided in cabinet drawer near mini-fridge.

We love the SJ Family Suite on the Dawn, we’re not big balcony users and the big wall of windows works for us. We’ve stayed in 12018 twice and have 12016 booked for March. There is tons of space, the room was quiet and far enough away from the pool area that we never saw much traffic. I always bring a multi plug/USB combo and so far have never had it confiscated.

Again thank you for the input, looks like 12020 is the only FS w/balcony left so I may just got for it! Appreciate all of your replies - love this board - so helpful!

Call NCL or your TA and put a 24 hold on it - if it is the last one - don't let it go and have to accept something less.

12020 and 12520 have unobstructed balcony views to the front of the ship, which the other family suites behind those don't have, and which look pretty neat in a video I watched! Also based on my experience on the Dawn, if you're on Deck 12, Starboard is the way to go. They allow smoking on deck on Port side, and you can smell it in the Port side hallways sometimes.

I hope there is more than one' date=' which is what we had in the 2-br Family Suite last time! I really think that was the only negative about that suite last time.

We were in a 2 bedroom suite, toward the front of the boat right by the elevator. and we loved our placement, and we had absolutely 0 complaints or issues.

We were on Deck 11 I believe

I thought the same about the 2-br we were in last time. I was worried about the noise from the elevators and stair traffic, but zero issues.
