Ultimate beverage package coffee question

When I look to see what is included and not included in the UBP there is very little mention of coffee on either the included or excluded lists. All I see is that "select Lavazza coffee beverages" are not included. Is there just plain ordinary coffee available and would this be included in UBP?

Everyone can get plain, ordinary coffee for free at any restaurant, buffet, and selected bars. No need for a beverage package.

Unfortunately the UBP on Norwegian is among the worst in the cruise industry. I love sailing Norwegian, but the fact that premium coffee and bottled water is not included is disappointing. Even Carnival allows the pre-purchase of a case of water for $5. I wish they were more like Celebrity where the added value offer includes the drink package, tips included, for any beverage up to certain dollar amount. Alas, it is a business decision.

Regular and decaf coffee are free of charge for everyone and available all day at the buffet and at dining venues throughout the ship. There is a separate specialty coffee area that serves iced coffees, lattes, mochas etc that are at an additional cost and not included in the UBP.

Since you didn't get the answer you were hoping for, do be advised that there is usually at least one coffee machine in the buffet that grinds the coffee and then makes it for you. This machine can be identified by the two containers sitting on top that hold the coffee. It is worth finding this machine IMHO over the others that seem to use coffee concentrate.

Regular coffee is available whether you have the UBP or not.

Here is the best kept secret about specialty coffee and the UBP.... I was let in on this little trick by cruise bar staff. Ask for whatever specialty coffee you want, but have them add a little alcohol, like a shooter of Baileys. The coffee then automatically becomes an alcoholic drink and therefore FREE!!!

I do this all the time! Have fun!

Could you give me some ideas on what kind of specialty coffees to ask for. This is first time I’ve had the UBP and I’m not much of a drinker but I love coffee but only drink regular coffee at home thanks. I’ll add that shot of Bailey’s!

I was on the Pearl a couple of months ago and tried at several different places to get Bailey's and coffee with my UBP. It could not be done. The only place I was able to get it was in the casino where they had a coffeepot on the bar counter. I went and got a free cup of coffee and then ordered a Bailey's which I poured in to it.

No specialty coffee drink could be ordered with the UBP whether it had alcohol in it or not.

I was able to get Bailey's and coffee with the UBP a couple of years ago but they changed rules though it is possible that some other ships may not follow the new rules.

I usually get an Americano or Capuccino with Baileys. You have to order them from the lobby bar or any other bar that makes specialty coffee and serves alcohol. Tell them up front that you have the UBP and you won’t have a problem.

Thanks for the tip!

How recent were you able to do this? On which ship?

I couldn't agree more. On Celebrity, we totally took advantage of all of the free specialty coffees and bottles of sparkling water we could handle! What's really frustrating about Norwegian is the outrages prices of certain martinis, like $17 for an espresso martini, meaning with the UBP you still end up paying a few bucks.
