Pursuit Refit

I understand that the refit for Pursuit will take place in Belfast (my home port). Although I had heard this about two weeks ago I was asked to keep it to myself until it was made official. It has now been seen in a local newspaper.

I was told on Quest's holiday cruise that itinerary changes to Pursuit's first cruise would be announced today. Has anyone seen this? Still not getting Azamara's marketing emails because I was on a chartered cruise (no, not that one:eek:).

Pursuits first cruise is on Aug 1st from Southampton to various ports in Norway.

Thanks for the information. I’m pleased to hear they are using Belfast.

Here is the link to the new maiden cruise itinerary on the UK site.

This was published in Cruise Industry News...

Azamara Pursuit will launch into service on a Norwegian fjord sailing this summer after a refit at Harland & Wolff shipyard, according to an announcement. The refit will be fully managed by MJM Group, a marine interior outfitting company.

Azamara will take delivery of the ship this March in the Caribbean, where it wrap up its service life as the P&O Adonia. The vessel will then reposition to Belfast for a four-month refit period under the guidance of MJM, where it will become the Azamara Pursuit, the third ship in the company's small-ship fleet.

“This is the first time any company within Royal Caribbean Cruises has used a UK shipyard for refit works of this scale. We are delighted to come to Northern Ireland with Azamara Pursuit,” commented Larry Pimental, president and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises.

It is very important to point out, that when Titanic left Harland and Wolff she was in perfect working condition.

Harland and Wolff were the builders . . . not the Captain and Crew!

Wasn’t the first cruise supposed to depart from Barcelona? I hope there aren’t too many guests that booked their flights to Barcelona already, as this change comes less than 8 months out...

This a text from shipmonk.co.uk. I just thought this outtake was informative:

«The maiden voyage on August 1 will take in eight Norwegian destinations, including Kristiansand, Flåm and Haugesund, with overnight stays in Oslo and Bergen. Pursuit’s sister ship, Azamara Journey, will dock in Haugesund on the same day, marking their first meeting.»

The name of the Titanic's captain was Smith. The name of the Pursuit's captain is Smith. Hmm.

Change of thought. I was fortunate enough to visit Belfast recently and the museum located on the spot where the Titanic was built is unique and Azamazing.

And it has staged an Azamazing Evening

I’m delighted the skills of the shipyards in Belfast have been recognised with this refit being completed there.

I find the references to events over 100 years ago to be extremely unhelpful.

Well done Belfast, the only other place could have been the Clyde ......

Planned maintenance, they say. All ships need their hulls checking out from time to time, so could be that.

It is that. Went round to the dry dock in Singapore just after we left. There was absolutely NO disruption to our cruise from the impending dry dock.

They will also be removing the casino tables and having an attempt to deal with the big suites shower flooding.

The Cabaret lounge backstage is also being altered not entirely sure what there. A few carpets are being replaced but nothing else major was being talked about
