Hi! I am turning 40 soon and my husband and I are planning a 7 days Caribbean cruise at the end of March. The ship departs from Antigua and the itinerary is Antilla, St Barts, Virgin Gorda, Tortola, Norman Island and Jost Van Dyke.

Has anyone done this cruise? I have read that the ship is a little bit old but the experience is very good (this is the first time we book a cruise and we thought about SD because we don't like big ships) . What we would like to know is whether the ports of call, excursions, beaches, etc are worth it or not as we are travelling from Europe.

Thanks so much for your help and comments! clear.png?emoji-grin-1677

This is a Fantastic itinerary for the Caribbean and Sea Dream will not disappoint. They do the Caribbean like others wish they could. The smallness of the ship allows SD to get into ports that many of the larger ships can't. Understand that there will be no bingo playing, no broadway reviews and no cultural lectures. Also, no kids or kids programs. Just quiet nights under the stars, stellar meals, and personal attention second to none. Also, the TOY bar! We are doing our 10th SD cruise, all have been in the Caribbean and each one has been our favorite. Go for it!

SeaDream is not for everyone, but it sounds as if you are the lucky few who will really enjoy it. Check the SeaDream website and look at your particular cruise. It should show the excursions that will be offered. Some will be snorkeling trips or beaches. The beaches are beautiful, and not crowded because the big ships can't get to these places. In St. Barts there might be an ATV trip. A couple we talked to on the cruise we just got off had a great time on the ATV. Bear in mind, though, that some excursions may be cancelled for lack of enrollment. Some people are quite content to simply stay on the yacht while it is in port. They enjoy just relaxing at the pool, swimming off the marina or using the water toys. There were a couple of ports last week at which we chose to stay on board because we aren't really beach fans, except for the beach party, which you will likely have at Jost. Unless you are from Paris, you will really enjoy the shopping in St. Barts. Exchange rate between the USD and the Euro, however, has made it a bit more expensive than before for us.

Last week there were no kiddies, and the age range ran from 30's to 70's (but 70's who don't behave like they are that old). And only about half the guest were from the US. Others were from Canada, Mexico, England, Australia, Netherlands and Norway.

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP TrapperZimmy. The age range is not as i thought but better if it starts from 30'. :)

Each cruise is different, Marietta, so don't come back to me if everyone is over 65. As they say, your mileage may vary. But it is nice to see that SD is attracting a younger crowd. My biggest concern is that some of these passengers are starting their cruise experiences on SD and not the big ships. How can they truly appreciate how wonderful SD is without being able to compare to the mass market cruises? Everyone should know the experience of sharing an inside cabin on a biggun with a couple of teenagers, waiting in line for half an hour to get on a crowded tender, walking through a smoke-filled casino to get to the dining room, trying to avoid the ship's photographer who always wants to take your picture when you look your worst, and signing for a can of diet coke. Can you really know what heaven is if you haven't been through hell?

Hahahaha! Ok I understand how lucky I am!... I prefer not to experience the hell even if I take the risk to appreciate a little bit less the heaven.. if I am in a big ship having such experiences I will probably jump to the sea in the middle of the ocean!

No worries, I will not come back to you if my fellow cruisers are over 65.. my parents are that age and are very lively and cheerful. You never know!
