HAL replacing ParkWest

Mentioned on WCB’s live thread, ParkWest is finally being removed from HAL ships (it was supposed to have been done in April but I think contract issues pushed it back).

From what we’ve been told, the art auctions are going away as ArtLink is more creative. Shore excursions, art seminars (non sales), private showings, residency possibilities and a gallery for sales, not auction BS. Artists will be region specific if possible, but heavy on emerging art. Read: no more Peter Max!

If anyone has experience with this new venture, we’d love to hear about it.

It will be nice to see more artists, but I liked Tarkay (I have few pieces, and also some from other artists). However, I like art auctions (especially with free sparkling wine ;) )

We noticed on our last couple of cruises that hardly anyone was at the art auctions.

I remember when HAL got rid of Park West quite a number of years and replaced with the British company. Then they were gone. For a couple of years -- no art auctions. The majority of the cruisers we know didn't miss them.

Looks like we will have to find some other way to kill some time on sea days. Darn going to miss that free cheap bubbly and the Max that no one ever bought. Oh well guess that means more casino time for me and another book for the wife.

Shock Horror! I will not cruise HAL any longer as long as Park West is not reinstated.

The free Champagne auction is the reason why we cruise

ps. good riddance.

Hahahaha!

It will be so nice not having the pathways littered with their things, making it difficult for a scooter or rollator to pass by.

And I will be thrilled to be able to sit in a chair not occupied by one of their things!

I never understood the Park West presence on cruise ships. Who would be shopping for random art for their home on a cruise.? I get buying local art at ports of call, but you can get Peter Max and general art at any gallery. And, JMO, most of the stuff is baaaad.

Park West is often the best comedy on HAL ships. Always amusing to watch folks bidding up giclee's. Perhaps they will work with a firm that brings some real art aboard.

Great ! I always wondered how much HAL and the other lines made hosting

this dreck and if it was worth the harm to their reputations .
